Job Tittle: Slipform Paving Party Chief
Job Summary:
Provides quality surveying services to ensure stringless slipform paving operations comply with design drawings and specifications. Complies with company standards and best practices in the execution of all survey and paving related activities. Coordinates survey deliverables and manning requirements with Engineering Department leadership and job-site supervision to accommodate construction schedule. Provides supervision and training to junior layout personnel. Typical survey activities include establishing horizontal and vertical control for the project; building and manipulating 3D surface models; operating and maintaining survey equipment; setting up robotic-total-stations (RTS) for controlling paver operations; performing various survey checks for quality control; and establishing pavement joint locations.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
2. Establish Horizontal and Vertical control for the project.
3. Create and maintain 3D surface model of project using survey software (Carlson Construction and Civil 3D preferred).
4. Ability to operate and maintain multiple survey instruments to perform layout duties (Leica TS16, GPS, Digital Levels, Carlson SurvPC, etc.).
5. Coordinates survey manning resources with Engineering and Paving Department management as required to accommodate construction schedule.
6. Maintains “As-Built” drawings and files as required for paving operations.
7. Assists in establishing initial estimates and final calculations of construction material quantities.
8. Provides management and training of junior layout personnel as required.

The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must have the ability to work long hours and drive long distances to and from work; may be required to work some weekends.
