Positions available for all three shifts . (8a-4p, 4p-12a, and 12 a - 8a)

Summary

The Mobile Crisis Intervention Specialist provides crisis intervention services within the West Side Communities of East and West Garfield Park, Austin, and North Lawndale. Mobile Crisis Teams (MCT) are established to respond to crises that are presented by persons with serious mental illness and/or substance use disorders. The MCT provide 24 hour seven days a week crisis intervention and link persons with identified crises to services within the community.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to requests from the Chicago Police Department’s local districts for assistance in responding to persons experiencing a mental health/substance abuse related crisis and are deemed appropriate for diversion from the criminal justice system;
  • Provide crisis assessments within the WCTWC;
  • Respond to calls from the CPD for assistance in resolving crises within the target communities;
  • Conduct firm linkage (warm hand-off) for persons to appropriate providers via the WCTWC;
  • Maintain documentation of services in forms designated by the WCTWC;
  • Works collaboratively with the Mobile Licensed Clinician and CPD personnel to ensure linkage to care;
  • Participates in the development of care plans for persons served;
  • Conducts follow-up on persons served in accordance with established WCTWC protocol;
  • Provide brief counseling and de-escalation techniques as necessary;
  • Utilizes Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to engage consumers;

Qualifications

  • Must possess a Master's Degree in a Human Services Related field;
  • Must qualify as a QMHP under Illinois Rule 132;
  • Demonstrate prior experience in working with persons diagnosed with SMI and/or co-occurring conditions;
  • Demonstrate cultural competency in providing services to low income disadvantaged populations;
  • Show familiarity with the target communities;
  • Demonstrate the ability to cooperate and collaborate with multiple service providers;
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills both written and oral;
  • Must be service oriented, empathetic and able to interact and develop rapport with a diversified population;
  • Must pass mandatory background checks which may include education verification, references checks, and pre-employment drug screen;
