Bob Ruth Ford is Hiring an Automotive Service Manager Near Dillsburg, PA

OVERVIEW OF COMPANY AND POSITION

Family owned and operated for over 40 years, Bob Ruth Ford, Inc. is South Central Pennsylvania’s fastest growing dealership. The Service Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of Service Operations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS (REQUIRED)

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to work a 7:30am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday schedule, as well as “late days” (7:30am to 6:00pm) or Saturdays as needed
  • 3 to 5 years of supervisory and administrative experience leading a team of fixed operations employees in a fast-paced automobile dealership environment
  • Computer skills necessary to maintain databases, coordinate payroll, update accounting records, create spreadsheets, etc.
  • The tact and patience necessary to interact effectively with confused or frustrated customers
  • Ability to work in an environment which may at times present noise, dust, exhaust fumes, and other hazardous and nonhazardous materials

JOB REQUIREMENTS (PREFERRED)

  • An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Demonstrated ability to minimize costs through effective service strategies and organization
  • A familiarity with Ford products and processes as gained through experience as a Technician, Service Advisor, Dispatcher, or related position

JOB DUTIES

This position is responsible for leading Service Operations for the dealership. The Service Department is open Monday through Thursday 7:30am to 6:00pm, Friday 7:30am to 4:30pm, and Saturday 7:30am to Noon. Working closely with the Service Advisors and Technicians, the Service Manager maximizes shop productivity, efficiency and quality by coordinating the flow of vehicles into, through and out of the service department. This typically involves:

  • Dispatching work to the various technicians as written up on Repair Orders (RO’s) by the Service Advisors
  • Ensuring that work is strategically assigned, based on technician abilities and specialities, availability, customer scheduling constraints, etc.
  • Motivating Service Advisors to upsell work and generate revenue
  • Maintaining a safe and productive work environment by ensuring the proper tools are on hand and in good repair, overseeing care and cleaning of the facilities, monitoring the progress and workload of the technicians on assigned tasks, keeping technical bulletins and workshop literature updated etc.
  • Overseeing Ford, Safety, and other training programs and ensuring technicians are in compliance
  • Leading the troubleshooting of workflow bottlenecks, paperwork/warranty challenges, and other issues impacting the Service department
  • Ensuring a strong, productive and timely working relationship between the Parts department and the Service department
  • Interacting with the Sales Managers to discuss service options for “good luck” or other vehicles completing time/production and departmental reports, approving paid time off, responding to employee complaints or suggestions etc.
  • Reviewing RO’s for accuracy and proper documentation
  • Interacting with customers to resolve issues, answer questions, and ensure satisfaction and repeat business
  • Coordinating Safety, Emissions, Warranty, and other audits as necessary
  • All other duties as assigned.

Overall, this position is responsible for running an efficient and profitable service department by maximizing productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction while complementing the efforts of the Sales department and maintaining a strong working relationship with Ford Motor Company and other vendors and affiliates. This also requires effective forecasting, staffing, reporting, trend analysis, and communication.
