Bob Mills Chevrolet is Hiring a Dealership Service Manager Near Darlington, SC

Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Service Manager to oversee all aspects of our automotive dealership's Service department. The Service Manager will be responsible for maintaining the department's reputation, efficiency, and profitability, ensuring it contributes significantly to covering the company’s fixed expenses. Upholding the highest ethical standards, the Service Manager will also manage manufacturer warranty repairs, service contract provider transactions, and internal dealership reconditioning. This role involves daily interaction with service technicians, parts department personnel, accounting staff, sales and finance teams, third-party vendors, and customers. Exemplary customer service and personnel management skills are essential.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Protect the legal and financial welfare of the dealership.
  • Prepare annual operating budgets, goals, and objectives for each department and monitor performance.
  • Direct the hiring and training of service department employees.
  • Work with department employees to improve profitability and efficiency.
  • Create and maintain positive relationships with customers, ensuring exceptional service to encourage referral and repeat business.
  • Administer warranty claims and understand warranty guidelines in collaboration with warranty clerks and customers.
  • Develop service and pricing policies for approval by the general manager/owner(s).
  • Ensure efficient and correct service repairs by conducting spot checks on jobs.
  • Collaborate closely with the Parts Manager to ensure adequate coverage and efficient processes in both departments.
  • Enhance the organization’s reputation by exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Adapt duties as directed by ownership or as needed to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Provide superior guest treatment and maintain a professional work environment.
  • Ensure consistency in the greeting process, customer vehicle walkarounds, and completion of service write-ups/repair orders.
  • Manage timely and consistent completion of vehicle multi-point inspections (MPI) and present findings to customers with service recommendations.
  • Ensure all work is completed as agreed upon and maintain high levels of communication with customers throughout the repair process.
  • Thoroughly document all activities performed on repair orders, including declined services and future service recommendations, with customer acknowledgment.
  • Ensure all payments for repairs are complete before releasing any vehicle.
  • Handle customer concerns promptly and efficiently.
  • Manage the merchandising of service write-up and customer waiting areas.
  • Close service maintenance and repairs sales according to company policies and guidelines.
  • Conduct role play and process training periodically with staff members.
  • Administer daily huddle meetings and follow up on daily to-do lists.
  • Manage personnel according to company policy, including setting schedules, supervising staff, and making hiring/termination decisions.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a similar role within an automotive dealership.
  • Strong leadership and managerial skills.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to create and manage budgets effectively.
  • Familiarity with automotive service operations and procedures.
  • Proficiency in handling warranty claims and understanding warranty guidelines.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
