POSITION SUMMARY: The person in this role is a primary contributor in providing software solutions including design, code, and testing for a variety of academic and non-academic application systems.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Interacts with end users for clarification of requirements as needed
• Coordinates with Business Analysts on requirements, designs, and testing related to assigned projects
• Recommends software solutions for solving business needs
• Assists in the design, development, and support of various business software applications and integrations
• Writes program specifications as needed from business requirements and converts designs and specifications into computer code
• Provides unit and system level test planning, scripting and execution to validate solutions
• Supplies documentation on code, procedures, and integrations
• Provides technical assistance to inquiries regarding errors, problems or questions with programs and integrations
• Maintains working knowledge of current technologies through peer interaction and independent study
• Provides work estimates, schedules, and progress reports as needed
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Working knowledge of object-oriented software technology
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Very good communication skills: written and oral
• Good working experience with web and compiler-based programming tools that may include Java, JavaScript, PowerBuilder, HTML, CSS, Python, Django, Dynamics 365, Boomi
• A working knowledge of relational database interactions in the DB2 and MS SQL Server platforms
• Ability to work effectively in a project alongside team members
• Willing to learn new skills and technologies
• Understanding of the University's goals and objectives
