Job Description

What is this job?

The Admissions Coordinator is an integral part of the care team responsible for facilitating the referral, evaluation and admission of youth that can benefit from treatment services delivered in BCC Maryland residential and community based programs. The Admissions coordinator acts as a liaison for BCC with external clients and stakeholders to maintain communication about BCC services, as well as what the community needs are.

It is an independent not-for-profit organization that is focused on serving children and their families. It has evolved and adapted from orphanages opened 140 years ago to being a leader in providing high-quality behavioral health, educational, and residential services across the Mid-Atlantic. Our Mechanicsburg, PA, campus used to be called United Methodist Home for Children prior to merging with BCC in 2018. BCC as a whole has approximately 700 employees, an annual budget of about $55 million, and the majority of its employees are in MD, WV, PA, and DC.

Do I need any prior experience?

Required Education and Experience

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a related field from an accredited college or University.
  • Current LMSW, LGPC, LCSW-C, or LCPC Maryland State License
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the field of Human Services
  • Knowledge of behavioral health, residential and community-based services. Knowledge of Child Placement Agencies.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Current LCSW-C or LCPC Maryland State License
  • Two years of administrative experience in the field of Human Services
  • Five years of experience in the field of Human Services with community-based and residential programming.

What does the Clinical Admissions Coordinator do specifically?

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with various stakeholders, whose support is necessary for the growth and development of BCC and community needs.
  • Screen all referrals in need of placement and evaluate appropriate level of care within BCC continuum. The admission director, or their designee after business hours, will respond to referring agency related to status of acceptance within 24 hours.
  • Conducts interviews with youth and families (via videoconference, telephone and in-person) to aid in the evaluation of appropriate level of care and share information about BCC services. The admissions coordinator will use a trauma lens to conduct these interviews and involve the youth and their family.
  • In conjunction with the TFC Recruitment Coordinator, review TFC families who would provide the best match based on needs and strengths of the youth being referred. Determine goodness of fit for referrals and available TFC families.
  • Responsible for meeting targeted census goals for the program (s).
  • Responsible for coordinating and attending internal and external meetings which involve discussion about youth transitions and program changes.
  • Provide leadership that embodies BCC core values to establish standards for professional excellence that supports the fidelity of treatment in residential and community based services.
  • On a regular basis will attend meetings with local stakeholders, including DSS and DJS agencies to provide information about the program and available resource homes.
  • Coordinate and complete necessary intake paperwork and initial clinical assessments.
  • Develop, complete, update, and monitor agency census roster. Utilize BCC technology to maintain referral and census data. Identify trends and make recommendations to program leadership.
  • Coordinate admission experience with the care team, including orienting the youth and family into the program. Distribute the welcome book, contact information and answer all questions that are raised.

Where is this job based? Is this an in-person position?

This is a full-time position, in-person position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. This position regularly requires flexible hours to include some nights and weekend hours to accommodate schedules of birth and foster parents, and foster parent training classes. This position is eligible for a flex schedule. This position is not essential during inclement weather.

Other Job Requirements

  • This position requires you to drive BCC vehicles. Must have a valid, active, driver's license with less than 7 points.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
