OVERVIEW

BMWC is an industrial construction company seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Paralegal to join the team. This position allows you to play a pivotal role in the administration and compliance of construction business operations.

You will be part of a top-performing Legal team and report to a leading General Counsel in the industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction law and experience handling legal matters related to the construction industry. This role involves providing comprehensive legal support to our legal team, assisting with contract administration, compliance, dispute resolution, and litigation management.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As the Paralegal, you will:

• Assist in drafting and reviewing construction contracts, including but not limited to, contractor agreements, subcontractor agreements, and supplier contracts.
• Conduct legal research and analysis on construction law, regulations, and best practices.
• Support the legal team in managing disputes, claims, and litigation.
• Help ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations applicable to construction projects and business operations.

• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather information and documents relevant to legal matters.
• Maintain organized files and documentation for all legal matters, including contracts, correspondence, and legal memos.
• Assist in the preparation of legal presentations, reports, and summaries for internal use.
• Manage company’s contractor licenses ensuring compliance with regulations and renewals.

• Coordinate permits for construction projects, ensuring timely acquisition and compliance.
• Manage company’s secretary of state registrations and local business licensing ensuring timely renewals.
• Draft and manage shareholder and board of director meeting notices, minutes and consents as needed.
• Assist with collection efforts, including preparation of mechanics liens, as needed.
• Assist with drafting of real estate documents, leases, extensions, and amendments.
• Assist with investigation and management of labor and employment matters under federal or state statutes.
• Manage insurance claims enterprise-wide including primary contact with insurance companies on auto claims.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum of 3 years of in-house and/or law firm experience as a paralegal, experience in the construction industry a plus.
• Strong language, reasoning, and interpretation abilities.
• Outstanding organizational skills, flexibility, and professionalism.
• Effective time management, attention to detail, and accuracy.
• Ability to work both independently, with little supervision, and collaborate with a team.
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously in a constantly changing environment.
