Bluestem Health is Hiring a Medical Records Specialist Near Lincoln, NE

Description

The medical records specialist’s responsibility is to provide general support to Bluestem Health and the clinical staff in maintaining electronic medical and paper records.

Essential Duties:

· Process incoming mail and faxes

· Managing documents in the image control system

· Answer phones in a courteous and professional manner and address questions regarding the patient medical history within the legal guidelines set forth by HIPAA regulations.

· Locating documents for clinical staff

· Data entry

· Processing Releases of Information

· Follow through on inquiries and be able to acknowledge when delegation of the task is needed

· Support other members of the medical records team and Bluestem Health team as needed or assigned

· Performs scanning of the paper health information record into the electronic health record following established guidelines. 

· Performs analysis of scanned document images to assure accuracy and legibility maintained. 

· Participates with clinic office staff, and supervisor to establish well-coordinated compliant scanning routines. 

· Promotes an atmosphere that encourages enthusiasm regarding accurate record maintenance and availability. 

· Assumes the primary responsibility for hardware tests to insure proper feeding of scanner sheets. Maintains a daily log of scanning activities as directed by the Health Information Manager. 

· Inspects the equipment to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of scanning function through education. 

· Assumes responsibility of maintaining an inventory of supplies and spare parts for the scanner. 

· Perform other duties as assigned by the medical records supervisor to meet the needs of the clinic
