Position Information: Northwestern Health Sciences University (NWHSU) is pleased to announce an opportunity for an Associate Clinic Faculty member. An Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Clinic Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of 2-4 clinical interns per shift; site dependent. Supervisor duties include working one-on-one with individual students while overseeing patient care, planning and treatment. This position is 4 hours per week depending on the number of clinic shifts available. Shifts are up to 4-6 hours in length for 15 weeks. Supervisors are asked to be available to substitute when possible, and occasionally an immediate on-call opening when available. This position is term-by-term.

We are looking for clinic faculty with a diverse set of skills to address a variety of treatment modalities such as neurological issues, sports medicine, sexual health, herbal medicine, situational-informed care, and more. Please include areas of interest and training.

This is a part-time, non-benefits eligible, adjunct faculty position.

Work Location: Bloomington, MN in-person and off-site clinic locations in the metro area.

Clinic Description:

For the Summer 2024 trimester the available clinic shifts are in our DeRusha Clinic, Bloomington Clinic, and community clinics in Minneapolis.

  • DeRusha Clinic is an internal NWHSU campus clinic, treating students, faculty, staff, and immediate family.
  • Bloomington Clinic is a public clinic open to the community.
  • NWHSU has community-care clinic sites in the Minneapolis area.

Summer term dates: May-August 2024

Duties:

  • Work one-on-one and in integrated care settings with student interns and other health-care practitioners to provide high quality patient care and education.
  • Confirm all diagnostic indicators, point locations, needle placement & technique, and accessory.
  • Assist interns in defining clinical competency goals on the first clinic shift; using a provided rubric, assess student clinical competencies at midterm and end of term.
  • Meet all clinical performance, intern supervision and administrative expectations, follow appropriate workflow processes and documentation requirements as outlined for the specific clinic.
  • Attend required trainings and meetings throughout the terms, including mandatory online HIPAA, OSHA, Centricity (our Electronic Health Record system) and other employee trainings.

What you need to have?

  • Master's degree in Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine, required
  • Doctoral degree in Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine, preferred
  • Licensed Acupuncturist in the state of MN and in good standing
  • 3 years of continuous licensure and documented clinical work experience
  • NCCAOM Herbal Certification, preferred
  • Higher education teaching experience or clinical supervision, preferred
