Position: Director of Nursing - Emergency Department

Job Overview:
The Director of Nursing for the Emergency Department is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing the provision of nursing care. This individual ensures the delivery of high-quality patient care through strategic planning, direction, and evaluation of departmental operations in alignment with the hospital’s mission, vision, and values. Collaborating closely with the Chief Nursing Officer, this role involves addressing nursing challenges and interpreting hospital policies to meet patient needs comprehensively.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning and Oversight: Develop and implement goals, plans, and standards for the department that align with organizational objectives and comply with clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements.
  • Leadership and Development: Direct daily operations, including workflow, staffing, orientation, training, and professional growth of department staff.
  • Quality Improvement: Spearhead ongoing initiatives to enhance the quality and performance of emergency department services.
  • Team Collaboration: Promote a team-based approach to patient care, encouraging and fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Policy and Procedure Management: Interpret and support hospital policies, procedures, and objectives, ensuring a consistent understanding across the team.
  • Patient Satisfaction: Monitor and analyze patient satisfaction, implementing strategies for improvement.
  • Performance Monitoring: Evaluate patient volumes, care quality, and staff performance, identifying and addressing areas for enhancement.
  • Complaint Resolution: Address and resolve complaints and concerns from patients, physicians, and staff.
  • Evaluation and Competency: Conduct annual performance reviews for staff and self, initiating corrective actions when necessary. Maintain and ensure department-wide adherence to required competencies.

Qualifications:

Must-Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or related field.
  • Required certifications: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) at the time of hire.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
  • Registered Nurse licensure in Arizona or Compact State.

Nice-to-Have:

  • TNCC Certification is preferred.
  • Master's degree in Nursing or related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in emergency department management at the middle or upper level.

This role is designed for a dynamic and dedicated nursing leader who is committed to excellence in emergency nursing care and operational management.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $118,000.00 - $147,000.00 per year
