BLUE OCEAN MARKET is the premier seafood market in Carteret County. We offer a fast-paced, high-energy environment with opportunities for growth and development. We sell a wide selection of local seafood caught by local fishermen and daily in-house prepared foods. The position we are filling must be available to work 15-25 hours per week. More hours available during tourist peaks. We are looking for high energy individuals that can work an incredibly busy retail environment.

Job Responsibilities:

• Provides customers with courteous, friendly, fast, and efficient service
• Recommends items for sale to customer and recommends trade-up and/or paired products
• Knowledge and willingness to learn and/or teach species of fish for the purpose of cooking
• Keeps counters and shelves clean and well merchandised
• Complies with all company policies and procedures; maintains respectful relationships with coworkers
• Supporting opening and closing store activities, when needed
• Must be comfortable working in an environment that handles raw seafood

Experience

• Minimum 1 year experience in a retail environment
• Restaurant experience preferred
• Experience working with high end customers that average a $50 ticket purchase or more
• The ability to stay organized in a crowded store front to maintain customer satisfaction

Physical Requirements:

• Remaining upright on the feet, particularly for sustained periods of time
• Lifting and exerting up to 50lbs. occasionally, up to 10 lbs. frequently, and a negligible amount regularly to move objects to and from, including overhead lifting.
• Visual Acuity - Having close visual acuity to perform activities such as: viewing a computer screen, reading, visual inspection involving small parts/details.
