Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) has a Data Analyst 2 opportunity available within our IT Informatics - Strategy, Planning and Delivery group.

About the Role

The Data Analyst 2 (DA2) role works with different cloud technologies to support informatics projects with large sets of healthcare data. Additionally, the DA2 develops medium to highly complex logical database designs, logical data models and relational data definitions in support of corporate and customer information systems requirements. This role works closely with customers, vendors, business analysts and application development project teams to resolve information flow and content issues.

In this Data Analyst 2 opportunity, you will:

• Support in the development of short- and long-term solutions of information architecture strategies.
• Translates business requirements into conceptual, logical and physical data model.
• Work with IT teams to ensure compliance. Perform regular audits of data.
• Collaborate with data architects to design the common customer view of information. Support creation and implementation of detailed specifications for various IT projects / solutions. Manage the data dictionary. Document and maintain all data definitions, data sources, business meaning and usage of information. Participate in development of single source data strategy. Understand internal and external data sources for new data and better sources of data feeds. Validate opportunities to share/reuse existing data/information. Execute / support the production of regular reports and analysis on data.
• Understand the framework for representing the data elements including the entities, relationships and attributes. Recognize and support resolution of conflicts between models to ensure that data models are consistent with the enterprise model (e.g., entity names, relationships and definitions).
• Understand solutions and recommendations for improving data integrity issues. Analyze data issues and works with development teams for problem resolutions. Support identification of problematic areas and propose the best course of action to correct the data.
• Follow data profiling and preventative procedures to improve data quality. Create data quality metrics for identifying data related issues. Collaborate with multiple teams to establish appropriate data access management.
• Ensure technical documentation is developed and maintained.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
• 3 years ’ IT work experience in data modeling, data analysis, relational DBMS design and support and relevant computing environments required.
• Experience in Healthcare domain is highly preferred.
• Expertise with data quality tools for data profiling, cleansing and standardization preferred.
• Working SQL knowledge is required.
