**Duties**

* Develop or implement the Districts vision/strategy that integrates key national and State program goals, priorities, values and economic, technological and administrative factors.

* Direct administrative activities directly related to policies and programs on public lands.

* Manage staff work through subordinate supervisors including field managers, team leads, and/or contractors.

* Establish, evaluate and adjust schedules, objectives, and goals in relation to workload, personnel required, and priorities to ensure successful completion of work.

* Set short- and long-term direction and priorities for accomplishment of work within the District.

** Qualifications**

**In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.**

For GS-13, you must at least one full year of specialized experience providing guidance on all phases of an organization's work programs. This must include activities such as: (1) providing long-term direction and guidance for land management programs on public lands; (2) setting short- and long-term priorities in relation to workload and personnel required; (3) developing or implementing an organization's vision/strategy to ensure program plans, goals, and priorities are met; and (4) performing personnel management tasks such as selection, training, or evaluation of organizational-wide functions. This experience must be comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service and/or private sector.

**Time-In-Grade Requirements**: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. You must submit your SF-50 that shows Time-in-Grade eligibility and reflects your title, series, and grade. No award SF-50 will be accepted.

Any individual who is currently holding, or has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet time-in-grade requirements (must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent in the Federal service).

**Volunteer Experience:** Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

You must include months, years and hours per week worked to receive credit for your work and/or volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience is equivalent to 12 months at 40 hours per week. Part-time hours are prorated. You will not receive credit for experience that does not indicate exact hours per week or is listed as "varies."

**Physical Demands:** Normally works in an office setting, with occasionally strenuous duty and normal field duty associated with resources work. Work may be conducted under widely adverse conditions such as severe winter temperatures and summers that are extremely hot and dry. May be required to walk into roadless areas or otherwise negotiate areas inaccessible to vehicular travel. Other methods of travel may include all-terrain vehicles, aircraft, or horseback.

**Work Environment:** Most work is performed in the office in close proximity to fellow workers. Fieldwork may include walking or driving motor vehicles over rough terrain in remote areas. Abnormal stress situations may also occur involving completion of work to meet short deadlines.
