PRESCHOOL VISION SCREENING TECHNICIAN (Part-Time) - Training Provided

Job Summary

The successful candidate will conduct prevention of blindness services throughout Allegheny County primarily with children ages 6 months thru 6 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Schedule, manage, and conduct screenings for children
• Work as a team member, as well as independently
• Participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings
• Organize, complete, and submit accurate screening results as scheduled
• Maintain screening tools and paperwork
• Continue to maintain current screening sites, while developing new sites
• Present a professional attitude with all directors, teachers, parents, and children

Qualifications

• High School diploma
• 1-2 years’ experience working with preschool-aged children preferred, but not required.
• Valid driver’s license with ability to drive throughout Allegheny County
• Effectively communicate with all age groups and personalities
• No previous experience required -- training provided!

Physical Needs for Job

• Mobile enough to sit and stand frequently
• Ability to lift 25 pounds
• Ability to screen with the PlusOptix S12 device (will train)

Clearances Required/Need to Obtain:

• Act 151 (Child Abuse History Clearance)
• Act 34 (Pennsylvania Access to Criminal History Clearance)
• Act 114 (Federal Criminal History Record Clearance)

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $11.00 per hour

Expected hours: 12 – 30 per week
