Description

At Bliffert Lumber & Hardware, we look for fun, outgoing individuals that want to grow within our company. Established in 1904, we are one of the oldest lumber families in the Midwest. Now in our fifth generation of family ownership, we operate lumber yards, hardware stores and millwork shops in southern Wisconsin.  

We are looking for an experienced Estimator to join our family. As a full time, employee, you would be eligible for full benefits that include health, dental, life, vision, voluntary life, short term disability, voluntary long-term disability, plus more. In addition, they have 401K, profit sharing and an employee stock ownership plan. Bliffert Lumber ensures that all employees receive a robust compensation package. The ideal candidate will be organized, motivated, detail-oriented and driven with previous experience in residential estimating.

Primary Responsibilities of Estimator

  • Produce accurate lumber & millwork material list per the plan.
  • Reviews drawings, specifications, and all other construction documents.
  • Estimating projects from start to finish.
  • Review and analyze estimates to ensure accuracy and completeness of information.
  • Utilize estimating software for accurate material list.
  • Understand and adhere to deadlines.
  • Ability to work developing competent estimates, meeting building codes.
  • Contribute to a constructive working relationship with the family, and contractors to promote a positive and productive atmosphere.

Qualifications


Qualifications of Estimator

  • Experience is required.
  • Math skills including basic arithmetic, and geometry.
  • Ability to read and navigate plans and specifications.
  • Attention to details and ability to evaluate plans for possible areas of concern.
  • Understanding of construction materials and applications.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively.

Travel

  • This role will require minimal travel to meetings, will be mostly remote.
