Job Summary:

Blavity Inc. is seeking an AfroTech Membership Manager. The Membership Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of our membership operations, playing a pivotal role in the onboarding, engagement, and overall satisfaction of our valued members. This individual will proactively screen and engage with prospective members, guiding them through the onboarding process and ensuring a smooth transition into our membership program. Reporting to leadership, the Memberships Manager will be instrumental in collecting and analyzing member feedback, utilizing data-driven insights to recommend strategic improvements to the membership program, and executing growth strategies that enhance the overall value proposition for our members.

This position partners closely with:

  • Marketing teams to identify and attract potential members
  • Program Manager and leadership to provide regular reports on member satisfaction and propose strategic updates

The ideal candidate for the Memberships Manager role is a highly organized, self-motivated individual with exceptional interpersonal skills. This person should demonstrate the traits of a customer success manager and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate takes ownership of the members' success journey, using data-driven decision-making to inform strategies and updates that continuously improve the member experience.

This role will report directly to the Senior Director of Operations. 

Responsibilities:

  • Screen and engage with potential members, guiding them through the onboarding process
  • Develop and execute growth strategies to increase membership enrollment and retention
  • Gather and analyze member feedback, providing regular reports on member satisfaction to leadership
  • Use data-driven insights to recommend and implement updates to the membership program
  • Provide exceptional support and communication to ensure a positive member experience
  • Actively address member inquiries, concerns, and feedback in a timely and effective manner
  • Curate experiences that enhance the value proposition for our members
  • Collaborate with Marketing team to optimize lead conversion into the membership funnel
  • Own the success of our members' experience, taking proactive measures to address challenges and capitalize on opportunities
  • Stay informed about industry trends and best practices to continuously improve the membership program.
  • Work closely with senior management on program development and strategy
  • Build effective relationships with colleagues throughout the Blavity organization to support analysis of membership performance based on multiple internal metrics
  • Combine internal analysis with ongoing client feedback and to advise opportunities for new and existing members
  • Ad Hoc coordination with cross functional teams and other departments related to internship project(s)

Qualifications: 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or related field
  • Required Experience
    • 2-4 years of managerial experience in a similar role
  • Preferred Experience:
    • MBA preferred
    • Previous experience working in SaaS, memberships, or related high-growth start-up
  • Technologies: Fluent in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Asana, CRM tool and/or comparable project management suite
  • Additional Qualifications:
    • Strong analytical and data-driven decision making abilities
    • Proven success in developing and executing growth strategies
    • Independent, entrepreneurial self-starter who is comfortable taking on a high level of responsibility
    • Comfort with ambiguity and a proven love for transforming unorganized/complex data into rigorously structured, insight-oriented solutions
    • High-energy, company-first, positive attitude; must be motivated to work hard in a fast-paced environment
    • Excellent communication and analytical skills; outgoing and sociable; willing to wear multiple hats 
    • Naturally detail-oriented, with an obsessive need to document and communicate findings
    • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
    • A healthy appreciation of GIFs and Black culture

Details: 

  • This is a fully remote, U.S.- based role. Occasional travel may be required. 
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Candidates must be available to work in alignment with the Pacific Time Zone 60% of the time and 40% in alignment with the Eastern Time Zone.
  • The annual salary range for this role is $70,000 - $85,000.
