Account Associate

Overview:

Blackwood Solutions is looking for an Account Associate professional who will support the accounting and finance department in various duties. These include handling tasks such as AP processing, vendor setup, invoicing, and assist with monthly close.

Responsibilities:

• Accounts Payable:
• Verify and enter invoices sent from Vendors into the AP software. This includes coding expenses to the correct expense account.
• Assist with new vendor setup and collection of new vendor documents.
• Reconcile and code credit card transactions with their corresponding receipts.
• Spot errors and suggest improvements to management.
• Invoice Processing:
• Enter data into accounting systems to create invoices.
• Prepare and send out invoices to customers promptly.
• Verify the accuracy of invoices prior to sending to customer.
• Keep a record of all invoices sent to allow for quick review.
• Collections:
• Follow up with customers daily on past due invoices.
• Maintain organized and up-to-date record of past due invoices.
• Report any collection issues to management.
• Month-End Close Procedures:
• Participate in month-end close activities, including reconciling account balances and creating close/adjusting entries.
• Report on any errors or adjustments that are needed.
• Suggest improvements to close activities that you are involved with.
• Client Interaction:
• Handle clients’ inquiries and concerns in a timely manner.
• Route calls and questions to the appropriate accounting staff or department.
• Backup Roles:
• Be open to the possibility of other tasks to support the accounting department or others areas of the business.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience: Previous experience in accounting or finance is preferred.
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in accounting software (ex. Sage Intacct).
• Strong Excel skills.
• Soft Skills:
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Analytical thinking.
• Problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication skills.
