Introduction to Municipals With over $185billion in assets under management, the BlackRock Municipal Bonds group is one of the largest municipal mangers and a recognized leader in the industry. The Municipal Bonds group is comprised of over 50 investment professionals and is made up of a seasoned team of portfolio managers, traders, credit analysts, market strategists, product strategists and our risk and quantitative analytics team. The team manages assets across a variety of solutions including mutual funds, separately managed accounts, Institutional and high net worth accounts and money market funds. Position Overview The responsibilities of a Customized Municipal Solutions – Institutional Portfolio Manager include: Proficient in managing both tax-exempt and taxable municipal bond portfolios and the ability deliver successful outcomes across multiple account types: active versus a benchmark, buy and maintain, liability matched and high-net worth. Timely delivery of high-quality communications, both written and oral, that outline performance of managed products for highly sophisticated account base. Work closely with both Portfolio Management, Trading and Municipal Credit Research teams in the process of portfolio construction. Coordination of information and trading strategy among the Portfolio Management team, and across the firm. Assist in the marketing of all municipal products through various distribution networks. Ensure compliance with investment guidelines and all relevant client restrictions. Participation in local and global investment strategy meetings. Qualifications BA/BS is required. Advanced degree, CFA Charter designation and significant coursework in data analytics, computer science, or related technical fields preferred. 5 years relevant fixed-income market experience, preferably with a focus on municipal securities Understanding of performance-oriented environment. Must demonstrate passion for financial markets. Strong interpersonal skills, both written and verbal. Ability to apply relative value analysis, including both micro and macro factors to construct a portfolio which meets stated objectives. Standout colleague, coupled with a sense of accountability and professionalism while acting as a fiduciary Detailed and organized with a strong focus on attention to detail. Advanced Python, SQL, and database proficiency required, experience in Aladdin platform, Bloomberg API, Tableau and Excel a plus. Knowledge of machine learning, data analytics, and/or data modeling. Client facing and willingness to travel.
