The position of Custodian consists of an average of 15 to 20 hours per week. The Custodian is responsible for keeping indoor Black Mountain Presbyterian Church facilities clean and tidy; keeping the building stocked with consumables such as soap, toilet paper, paper towels, and cleaning supplies; and undertaking various other duties as assigned including set up and take down of chairs and tables for various events and church services, minor outdoor maintenance items, window cleaning, etc. This position reports directly to the Director of Operations, under the supervision of the Head of Staff and the Personnel Ministry Team.

Job duties and requirements:

· Ensure spaces are prepared for the next day by taking out trash, tidying furniture, dusting surfaces,

· Sweep and mop floors and vacuum carpets

· Wash and sanitize toilets, sinks, and showers and restock disposables (e.g. soap and paper towels)

· Wipe mirrors and windows

· Secure facilities after operating hours by locking doors, closing windows

· Knowledge of use and maintenance of common cleaning equipment and appliances

· Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids; awareness of Safety Data Sheets and their location

· Attention to detail and conscientiousness

· Very good physical condition and strength

· High school diploma is preferred but not required

· Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds is a requirement of this position

Typical weeks consist of cleaning several pre-school classrooms and stairwells 5 times each week, Monday through Friday, in the afternoon or evening, and cleaning and preparing the rest of the church facilities 2 times each week or as needed otherwise. Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
