JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/ObjectiveBlack Diamond Advanced Technology (BDATech) is seeking a Mid-Level Mechanical Engineer who will be required to create and read mechanical drawings to include – technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports. They will also be responsible for researching and analyzing customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, work instructions and other data to evaluate the feasibility of designs and/or applications.

• Assist with develop and derive requirements
• Research, evaluation, design, and testing of products, equipment, and systems, ensuring they meet customer and BDATech requirements
• Design responsibilities/knowledge to include:
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision drawings, and models
  • Design of mechanical enclosures and components for packaging electronics
  • Design and assemble injection molding tools/ vacuum fixtures/ production assembly fixtures
  • Design of test control apparatuses and equipment
  • Modifications to eliminate defects and/or failures to existing products
• Ability to use manual lathe, mill, and other power tools
• Ability to assembly initial prototypes of products
• Ability to read and interpret vendor datasheets for electronic components and connectors
• Assist with investigate equipment failures and difficulties, diagnosing faulty operations and make repair recommendations to technicians
• Finish tasks in a timely and allotted amount of time
• Minimal oversight required for completion of tasks; able to problem solve and address issues without re-direction
• Able to work multiple task simultaneously, accommodate shifting priorities and manage time accordingly

Supervisory ResponsibilityThis position has no supervisory responsibilities. 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

• This is a full-time position. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the “core” work hours of 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. 
• BDATech observes a 9/80 schedule, meaning every other Friday is an off Friday
• This position is 100% NON-Remote position

TravelThis position has a possibility of traveling up to 10%.

Required Education and Experience

• BS or MS in mechanical engineering from an ABET accredited program
• 5 years of mechanical engineering experience
• Proficient in design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision drawings, and models
• Experience working with project budgets
• Experience organizing and conducting design and peer reviews/meetings
• Experience in GD&T and ANSI
• Experience designing and building ruggedized products that meet MIL-810 standards
• Experience in 3D printing/ Resin Printing

• Experience in assembly & documentation of engineering builds

• Proficient in Microsoft Office products

• Proficient in Pro-Engineer modeling and other computer-assisted software [Wildfire, Creo]
• Team Player, and the ability to work well with other disciplines as required
• Oral and written communication skills

Work Authorization/Security Clearance
Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain a U.S. Secret Clearance
