BIX Produce Company is Hiring an Electrical Technician Near Canada, MN

Overview

The Electrical Technician is responsible for following daily work assignments to meet GMP standards while following all company safety policies and general policies. The Electrical Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, replacing, and installing all electrical components in the facility and on the equipment. This position is also responsible for troubleshooting and repairing all PLC components and performing programming as needed. Coordinating work with outside electrical contractors and utilities. This position reports in to the Maintenance Supervisor. 

  • Schedule is Wednesday-Saturday; 7am until work completion
  • Tool and Boot Reimbursement
  • Generous Paid Time Off: 80 Hours of Vacation, 48 Hours of Sick Time, 7 Holidays and 3 Floating Holidays

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily work assignments as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor or Department Manager.
  • Respond to pages for electrical and maintenance support.
  • Work on projects (line-equipment re-location, installations, & upgrades).
  • Completing work orders for advanced electrical related issues and logging all activities in logbooks when required.
  • Developing electrical aspects of all project work as needed, working with supervision and management from other departments as the need to address electrical concerns in their areas.
  • Look for and report potential safety issues; Perform preventative maintenance.
  • Overseeing work methods, quality, and work progress of outside electrical and PLC engineering companies.
  • Prioritizing daily work assignment to ensure completion in an effective and timely manner.
  • Work to use company supplies, equipment, and materials in an economical manner.
  • Update all electrical documentation after changes are implemented.
  • Recommend improvements in methods, material, and safety.
  • Recommend equipment and machinery that can contribute to projects or upgrade.
  • Share knowledge with colleagues across all departments

Qualifications

  • 2-year certificate from college or technical school or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5 years of electrical and PLC experience, preferably with some maintenance experience as well
  • Strong knowledge of AC & DC voltage, including components in control circuits
  • Must have the following regarding control circuit capabilities: troubleshooting, rebuilds, and customizations.
  • Knowledge of industrial electrical, control, and instrumentation systems
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as maintenance/manufacturing manuals, blueprints and electrical schematics
  • Ability to use electrical and electronic test instruments as well as a full range of precision measuring and gauging tools to perform equipment inspections
  • Ability to repair, rebuild, or overhaul equipment
  • Capable of working with peers and colleagues from other departments proactively and constructively
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical and plumbing systems
