Job Function:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Tests and inspects products at various stages of production process and compiles and evaluates data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products by performing the following duties.

  • Perform duties of Level IV, III, or II inspector as required.
  • Perform diversified precision mechanical inspection assigned.
  • Plan and perform layout inspection of production fixtures, inspection fixtures, and production parts, including the use of Surface Plate, Height Master, Indicators and stands, angle plate, Jo Blocks, and other standard inspection equipment.
  • Devise efficient inspection set-ups for speed, ease of inspection, and accuracy.
  • Program and operate a CMM, skilled in PC-DMIS.
  • Program worms and hobs on CNC gear tester.
  • Can program and operate a Micro-Vu vision system.
  • Perform 1st Piece and Patrol Inspection at Gear Hobbing.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or formulas and confers with management or engineering staff to determine quality standards.
  • Train Level II, III, and IV inspectors
  • Follow all company policies, safety rules, and practices.
  • Regular and reliable level of attendance.

Additional Responsibilities: Perform additional duties as assigned by department supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • One to three months related experience and/or training
  • Served as a Level II inspector or have equivalent experience

Required Skill(s):

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, shop orders, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and record data.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to use basic inspection tools such as scales, micrometers, and calipers.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Certificates, Licenses, Registration – CMM programming and ASQ Certification(s) preferred
