Bishop State is Hiring an Experiential Learning Coordinator Near Mobile, AL

Position Summary

The Experiential Learning Coordinator will coordinate and manage all work-based learning and apprenticeship activities of the College. These activities include non-credit and credit training and credentials involving a work-based learning or apprenticeship component of the instructional program. This position is responsible for working in partnership with the workforce development, career and technical education programs, local business and industry, and College faculty and staff to develop high-quality, work-based learning activities to address the local and regional workforce needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Builds professional relationships with local business and industry partners and internal College stakeholders to promote employment and educational achievement.
  • Prepare monthly and annual goals and strategies, monitor progress, and reports on outcomes.
  • Coordinates the functions of the program including budget, contracts, and participant needs.
  • Supervision of staff. who are responsible for work-based-learning and apprenticeship programs.
  • Meets regularly with external business partners to implement individualized plans to achieve short and long-term goals regarding workforce and educational needs.
  • Serves as professional mentor, coach, and advocate for both participants and program staff.
  • Ensures documentation of all participant interactions, progress, participation, and data in the appropriate database system.
  • Serves as the point of contact (Liaison) to Industry.
  • Has experience building industry relationships.
  • Responsible to supervise programs related, but not limited to, Experiential learning such as work-based learning and apprenticeships.
  • Collaborate with local K-12 systems to build programs that meet industry demand.
  • Maintains detailed, organized, and updated files (paper and digital), in compliance with College policies.
  • Prepares timely monthly and quarterly reports as requested by business partners and the College.
  • Develops unique intervention strategies to engage and inspire participants.
  • Keeps comprehensive notes to reflect all services provided, employment and education placement, training milestones, credits earned, skills gained, and other accomplishments.
  • Collects performance data for work-based learning activities and provides monthly feedback to industry partners and external agencies for compliance.
  • Create and distribute a monthly newsletter to campus community and industry.
  • Leads the organization in programming of pre-apprenticeship and work-based learning program.
  • Represents the College at partner meetings and community events.
  • Collaborates with the departments of workforce development, career and technical education, and dual enrollment to deliver in-demand, work-based learning and apprenticeship training opportunities.
  • Participates in ongoing professional development related to organizational expectations centered on personal growth, leadership, and accountability.
  • Maintains professional and respectful demeanor when working with stakeholders.
  • Organizes time efficiently and effectively to meet deadlines and achieve outcomes while managing diverse and persistent demands.
  • Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Instructional Services and/or President.
Work Environment and Demands
  • The workplace is a typical college or office environment and requires the standard safety practices and precautions necessitated by those environments, such as safe work practices with office equipment and avoidance of gait trips and falls.
  • The employee may typically sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be occasional prolonged walking, standing, bending, driving, or carrying light items such as boxes or books. The day-to-day requirements can change due to the dynamic nature of the position.
  • The employee must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to independently travel to instructional sites and overnight to conferences and workshops.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master’s degree from an institution with accreditation from a federally recognized agency.
  • Two (2) years administrative or supervisory experience.
  • Two (2) years of experience working with an educational program.
  • Documented experience working with career and technical education or workforce development policies and procedures.
Preferred Requirements:
  • Two (2) years of experience working with a work-based learning or apprenticeship program.
Salary: ACCS Salary Schedule – C3-03 ($65,525-$101,034)
