Summary/Objective The BJCC Ticket Seller is responsible for over-the-counter sale of tickets using Ticketmaster, for public events, providing information and answering questions from customers. Works in conjunction with the Box Office Management Team by providing administrative assistance to include copying, emailing, filing, reconciling event coupons and similar tasks, as assigned.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

Demonstrates understanding and full performance ability in each of the following:

  • The ability to be friendly engaging and present a professional and courteous attitude during all guest interactions to promote an exception guest experience. 
  • Advanced ability to follow verbal and written communications, to ensure the proper sale of tickets and accuracy of administrative tasks. 
  • Effectively listens, speak, writes, and interacts in a tactful and persuasive manner. 
  • Responds to ticket requests in an efficient and prompt manner.
  • Delivers a commitment to guests and quality service by communicating guest service philosophies, standards and orienting other in effective guest service strategies. Encourages teammates to continually improve the box office experience. 
  • Assists customers with seating information, special requests such as ADA, Group, Promoter inquiries, Fan Club and VIP Ticket questions. 
  • Ability to communicate and work cooperatively with teammates.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of all office equipment, associated with a box office environment. Sells tickets for all BJCC event by using the computerized Ticketmaster system.
  • The ability to breakdown credit cards transactions and will-call receipts (both signature and unclaimed) at the end of each day/event and files into appropriate event file. Is responsible for will call boxes. Keeps them in order and monitors them from signature, etc.
  • Proficiently reviews Ticketmaster.com and Host to verify correct information is displayed for events that are on sale. 
  • Accurately balances all daily funds (cash, credit cards, vouchers related to ticket sales.)
  • Skillfully offers and monitors parking and club sales for all events. 
  • Ensures ticket counter area is organized and clean. This includes keeping envelope containers fully stocked, map books updated, keeping area fully stocked of general office supplies. 
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Work EnvironmentThis environment is fast paced and moderately demanding. Increased levels of stress may be expected when dealing with public and guests. Work is typically performed indoors, in a temperature-controlled office setting.

Physical Demands

Duties require extended periods of sitting and/or standing. Moderate amount of physical effort such as walking, standing, climbing, bending, stooping, squatting, and kneeling. Requires walking between venues for extended periods of time during events. Ability to lift up to 30lbs with or without assistance, while maintaining good balance. Must be flexible enough to reach above shoulder level and be able to push and pull for brief periods of time. Visual acuity, speech recognition, and speech clarity. 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is part-time position; hours of work must be flexible and varied to meet the demands of the events of the facility. Must be able to work irregular hours including day, nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.

Required Education and Experience

  • Minimum of one (1) year related experience with cash handling and providing guest services and administrative experience is desired. 
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. 

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, maintaining good rapport with guests, the general public and teammates. 
  • Makes good business decisions independently to address issues, complaints and customer needs, as part of the group decision-making process. 
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervisor after being instructed on tasks. 
  • Ability to be supervised and work cooperatively with co-workers to provide good internal and external guest services. 
  • Ability to understand oral and written instructions in English; ability to read and write in English.
  • Knowledgeable of the practices, methods, office tools, equipment and materials used in a box office. 
  • Ability to use and care for general office equipment. 
  • Proficient with calculator, adding machine and mathematical calculations for making correct change and balancing transactions 
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills and typing skills. 
  • Must have no past history that would preclude bonding.
