Summary

The Expeditor serves as a coordinator between the sales department /production team / shipping team to give strategic support to ensure the accurate, timely and thorough completion of customer orders. 

Essential Functions/Duties

1. Ensure that all employees observe and maintain a safe working environment.
2. Manage all open work orders in production and secondary process. 
3. Work very closely with the production team to support scheduling orders in production.
4. Manage scheduling work orders going to the galvanizer, heat treater, outside testing facility or other third-party processing. Ensure production manager has clear punch list of orders that need to be ready for third-party processing at planned intervals to meet shipping deadlines.
5. Monitor all packing lists for third-party vendors (heat treater, galvanizer, testing lab, platers, etc.). Expedite material return to ensure ship dates are met. Troubleshoot and solve any vendor related issues. 
6. Ensure customer needs and expectations are fulfilled.
7. Manage large/complicated order special handling from order entry through purchasing and shipping.
8. Communicate and manage expedited order requests or tightened lead times with production team. 
9. Notify Sales Representatives of any order issues, updated projected ship dates, missed ship dates, etc. for communication with customers. Address customer inquiries related to order status or ship dates. 
10. As schedule permits, rotate departments to complete other job functions based on production needs such as assembly, machine operation, maintenance, shipping, etc. 
11. Adhere to department related QMS and safety procedures, work instructions and documents; continually look for improvements to achieve efficiency, conformance to requirements, and customer satisfaction.

Physical/Cognitive Demands

This is largely a physically active role including walking long distances (over uneven surfaces) to/within our production facility, lifting 50lbs or more, and standing for long periods. Position also requires bending, stooping, squatting or standing as necessary. Cognitive abilities required include deductive reasoning, information ordering, oral comprehension, oral expression, problem sensitivity, written comprehension, and written expression. This job operates in manufacturing plant setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, heavy machinery, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can at times be loud; the use of hearing protection is required.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and typical work hours and days are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Mandatory weekend and overtime hours are required on a recurring basis.

Required Education and Experience

1. Associates degree or equiv. experience in Business, Operations, Manufacturing Production, or related field.
2. 2 years Shipping Experience
3. Equivalent combination of both education and leadership experience may be acceptable
