Reports To: Quality Manager of Manufacturing

Job Summary: The PPAP Coordinator will oversee the production part approval process (PPAP) for multiple branch locations within the Birmingham Fastener family of companies. This role will be solely responsible for collecting all necessary documentation involved with the PPAP process. The PPAP Coordinator will play an instrumental role in determining what resources will be needed to set up a successful PPAP program for the company.

Job Functions (Duties and Responsibilities): The primary duties consist of but not limited to the following:

1. Setup and creation of all necessary documentation for PPAP process
2. Provide insight into what resources (software, equipment, etc.) are needed to put a PPAP program in place
3. Exchanging product, process, and benchmarking information with sister units worldwide
4. Continually improving processes, material, and designs to ensure every product exceeds customer specifications while providing unparalleled value
5. The PPAP coordinator oversees the production part approval process (PPAP) for products
6. Duties include obtaining documentation about measurements, conflicting materials, layout and installation requirements for parts
7. Maintains PPA, completing all paperwork as required for tracking and timely submittal, and document control including distribution/removal of obsolete prints, forms, and or work instructions
8. Maintains sample parts as required
9. Communicate professionally with co-workers, suppliers, and customers as needed regarding PPAP related issues
10. Analyze and verify the dimensional capability of products and processes (Includes suppliers)
11. Understand Gage R&R’s and Capability Studies
12. Comply with all company Procedures, Policies, and Work Instructions
13. Assist Quality Manager with other projects or assignments on an as needed basis

Physical/Cognitive Demands

This is largely a mobile role requiring walking long distances (over uneven surfaces) to/within our production facility is required. Position also requires the ability to lift boxes, sitting, and bend or stand as necessary. Cognitive abilities required include deductive reasoning, information ordering, oral comprehension, oral expression, problem sensitivity, written comprehension, and written expression.

Required Education:

1. Engineering degree desired, but not required
2. Experience with PPAP process is required (minimum of 10 years desired)
3. APQP course certification is a plus
