Budget Title: Staff Assistant (SL-2)

Salary: $19,831 - $20,500 (50%, college-year)

We are currently seeking a versatile, half-time, 10-month Staff Assistant to join our transition team. As a Transition Assistant in Harpur College of Arts and Sciences you will play a pivotal role in ensuring smooth operations across various departments. Your leadership, technical expertise, data/financial analysis skills and support will be vital in providing backup for our departments and programs. This position provides key financial and data analysis support for departments with professional staff on leave or in transition to new employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administrative Support: Provide comprehensive administrative support to departments in transition within Harpur College, including but not limited to financial/data analysis, HR/ hiring, course building and curricular planning support. Help departments in transition rethink procedures with an eye toward more efficient systems in general.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, ability to learn university systems is essential.
  • Financial Skills: Assisting in the planning and preparation of a department/program budgets; maintaining the department/program budgets
  • Flexibility and Adaptability: Embrace change with resilience and adaptability. As a Transition Assistant, you will thrive in a dynamic environment where priorities may shift rapidly. Your ability to pivot seamlessly will be paramount to your success.
  • Creativity and Problem-Solving: Approach challenges with a creative mindset, exploring innovative solutions to streamline workflows and enhance productivity. Your ability to think outside the box will be instrumental in overcoming obstacles and driving continuous improvement.
  • Collaborative Team Player: Collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels of the organization, fostering positive working relationships and contributing to a collaborative team environment.
Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Strong computer skills, especially Excel and Word
  • Strong data analysis skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail
  • Willingness to travel to various locations, work with a diverse population of faculty, staff, and students, and be flexible in general

Preferred:

  • Prior financial management experience
  • Proficiency in G- Suite (Drive, Sheets, Docs, Forms)
  • Prior higher education work experience
