Bill Wilson Center is Hiring a Community Engagement Coordinator Near Santa Clara, CA

SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Shelter Director, the Community Engagement Coordinator will interface with community partners, and coordinate services and resources to the Shelter such as managing our food suppliers, coordinating meals for our clients and bringing resources to our Shelter. The Community Engagement Coordinator plays a key role in building relationships with the community to garner support for the shelter's mission and the families it serves.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:

RELATIONSHIP BUILDING AND OUTREACH

  • Develop and implement strategies to cultivate relationships with key stakeholders in the community, such as businesses, faith-based organizations, government officials, and potential donors.
  • Organize and participate in community events to raise awareness about family homelessness and the shelter's services.
  • Build partnerships with other social service agencies to ensure a coordinated approach to supporting families.

PUBLIC ADVOCACY AND AWARENESS

  • Serve as a spokesperson for the shelter, educating the community about the challenges faced by families experiencing homelessness.
  • Organize volunteer opportunities and connect community members with ways to support the shelter's mission.

PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT AND SUPPORT

  • Oversee meal planning strategy for the Shelter
  • Coordinate with food vendors and volunteers to plan Shelter meals for all clients
  • Assist in the development of new programs or initiatives that benefit families experiencing homelessness.
  • Coordinate and manage volunteers to ensure a skilled and dedicated volunteer force.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of community engagement efforts and suggest improvements.

DATA AND REPORTING

  • Track and analyze data related to community engagement efforts, such as volunteer hours, donations received, and media coverage.
  • Prepare reports summarizing community engagement activities and their impact.

· Participate in agency Program Quality Improvement activities and initiatives.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate in staff meetings and collaborate with other departments.
  • Support teams with overall needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform all essential duties and responsibilities satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

(B.A.) in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology or related field plus 2 years of relevant experience; or on field experience/lived experience. Experience in community planning, building relationships with various stakeholders and convening resources. Experience working with homeless clients and in a shelter setting.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports and correspondence. Good communication skills required. Ability to speak effectively before groups of clients or employees of organization.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Driving is a requirement of the job (valid California driver’s license with access to a personal vehicle that can be used for company business and current personal automobile insurance). Current CPR and First Aid Certification required (or complete within 30 days of hire). Fingerprinting/background check as required by the Department of Justice and/or Title XXII regulations. TB test required.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts as required for reporting.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

COMPUTER SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software; spreadsheet software and word processing software. Internet research skills are a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28.00 - $32.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
