GENERAL MANAGER

Big C Lumber is currently seeking a General Manager for our custom millwork shop in Fort Wayne, IN. This is a full-time salary position with benefits, plus potential year end bonus based on location profit.

General Manager Essential Functions:

• Attract and hire qualified employees
• Personnel management and training
• Develop and attain sales and profit objectives
• Employee development through education and training activities
• Customer service
• Inventory control
• Facilitate cooperation between yards to meet customer’s needs
• Implementation of all procedures and policies
• Communicate clearly, accurately, and effectively with employees, corporate, customers, and suppliers
• Perform any special assignment/projects as required by the Vice President of Operations
• Asset preservation
• Adherence to all safety and fire regulations and anti-theft procedures
• Promote a positive image of BIG C

Education/Experience:

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Valid driver’s license
• Forklift certification (can be obtained upon hiring)
• 5 years’ experience in the Millwork Industry and/or General Management required

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Basic knowledge of the building material industry
• Basic understanding of blueprints and material takeoffs
• Strong communication skills
• Strong problem solving skills
• Ability to coordinate as well as work in a team atmosphere
• Ability to adapt to in-house software
• Basic Knowledge of Moldings
• Basic Knowledge of Cabinetry
• Basic Knowledge of woodworking
• Ability to identify and label different species of wood
• Understanding how to calculate board footage
• Ability to schedule manufacturing with multiple long term projects
• Strong math skills
