PROGRAM SPECIALIST

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has a flexible work schedule. You will be responsible for Enrolling and Matching children and volunteers. In addition to providing Match support to ensure child safety, you will help create positive impact through constructive and satisfying relationships between children and volunteers.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Ensure a high-level of proficiency and skill in applying child safety and risk management knowledge, policies, and procedures throughout all aspects of job function.
  • Conduct volunteer and client (child & caregiver) enrollments, including individual orientations, interviews, and completion of any other enrollment processes.
  • Assess and refer families for alternative or additional services as needed.
  • Complete reference checks as necessary to gain additional data to complete the assessment process.
  • Review all enrollment information and assessments and make recommendations for participation in the program contributing to successful match relationships.
  • Effectively align volunteer interests and qualifications with service options of agency, determine matches, facilitate match meetings, provide support, assess training needs, and determine targeting goals.
  • Consult with other service delivery staff and/or supervisor as appropriate to provide highest support level and collaboration to ensure smooth transition among functions.
  • Develop, promote, and implement individual and group match activities to support ongoing volunteer involvement with the child and agency affiliation through individualized recognition, annual events, and reengagement strategies.
  • Effectively utilize assessment tools to track match impact on youth development and conduct exit interviews at match closure.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records for each match according to standards and utilize technology to report, synthesize and analyze data.
  • Coordinate with partners to ensure the success of programs at schools, workplace, and community organization sites.
  • Willingness to work weekends or nights to accommodate client family and volunteer schedules as well as agency wide fundraising and program activities, recruitment and additional events that support the mission of BBBS of Broward County.
  • Travel Requirement is approximately 30% of work time.

EDUCATION, RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

Education Level:

Bachelor’s degree in social work, mental health counseling, public health, psychology, or other community strengthening related field is preferred but not required.

Years of Related Work Experience:

3-5 years of related or equivalent work experience in Non-Profit program services, case management, community client support or similar.

Position requires thorough background screening, including fingerprinting as well as reference check.

Skill Requirements:

  • Must have car, valid driver’s license, and meet state required automobile insurance minimums.
  • Proficiency in technical areas such as Microsoft Office: Sharepoint, Word, Outlook, Teams, and Excel.
  • Proficiency with database and technology such as Matchforce/Salesforce and Dialpad is desired.
  • Excellent oral communication skills reflecting solid customer service both in-person, electronically and via the telephone.
  • Ability to use time effectively, work independently, focus on details, adapt to shifting priorities, and position and promote opportunities.
  • Presentation skills to effectively promote the agency mission and vision, both internally and externally that move people to action is a plus.

Minimal physical requirements to include walking, standing, occasional lifting, sitting at workstation and supporting community activities and events.
