Summary/Objective

The Outpatient Clinic Coordinator will be responsible for 1) maintaining the OP clinic schedule, 2) performing insurance verification, 3) coordinating communication between the clinic and provider offices, 4) managing upfront cash collections, 5) serving as a courier to the hospital, i.e. dietary, pharmacy and lab, 6) assisting with vital signs and phlebotomy, 7) stocking supplies and nourishments

Essential Job Duties

  1. Receives calls and/or faxes from physician's offices for scheduled Outpatient diagnostic procedures, accurately records information. Obtains necessary information for patient contact from physician Office and obtains valid written order for scheduled testing.

  2. Provides designated patient care to assigned patients under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse according to orders and in conformance with approved patient care standards.

  3. Assists patient and families with navigation throughout the clinic and with appointments and assists in scheduling of patients in the infusion area and ordering of noontime meals & distributing.

  4. Provides an appropriate clinic environment for patient care by maintaining the patient area in an orderly manner and maintaining neatness of the work environment including exam and treatment rooms.

  5. Manages and keeps accurate record of Barium and Medication Samples.

  6. Consistently follows hospital policy regarding verification of patient identification prior to obtaining specimen and ensures specimens are appropriately labeled with patient identifiers, date and time of collection and initials.

    Required Education and Experience

     High School diploma or equivalent

    1-3 years of related experience.
