Beyond Support Network (formerly known as Cantalician Center) is Hiring a Food Service Support Staff Near Depew, NY

Responsibilities will include various aspects of food service, including meal preparation, service, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment, while supporting both the Kitchen Manager and Staff. The Support Staff also works with the Supported Employment Team to implement all vocational goals and is responsible for daily documentation for Supported Employment and ACCES-VR.

Reports to Kitchen Manager and Coordinator of SEMP

  • Assists the individuals in learning job tasks and assimilating to the work environment.
  • Promote and facilitate worker independence, natural supports and job accommodations between the person and their supervisor/coworkers.
  • Facilitates communication between individuals and the employer regarding expectations, rules of conduct and safety.
  • Provide interpersonal skill building both on and off the job.
  • Provides work related instruction, as needed.
  • Monitors quality and quantity of individuals work to identify areas of need to obtain or maintain employment.
  • Applies problem solving techniques to increase community independence and assist individual in obtaining or maintaining employment.
  • Communicate and coordinate schedule with the Supported Employment Team to ensure coverage and safety of individuals we serve.
  • Assess individuals in community settings to determine the individual’s skills, abilities, unique talents, while supporting the individuals to make informed decisions.
  • Reviews and Implements the Supported Employment Habilitation Plan and Individual Plan of Protection to provide quality services and documentation.
  • Foster a positive and supportive work environment for the individuals receiving services.
  • Maintain documentation in a timely manner including, but not limited to supported employment daily documentation, incident reports and documentation in accordance with regulatory compliance and Agency expectations.
  • Transports individuals receiving services as well as providing mobility training as needed.
  • Constantly maintains high performance standards at work with regard to personal behavior and interactions with staff, individuals receiving services, employers and outside agencies.
  • Familiarity with health and safety requirements and regulations for all individuals receiving services.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work independently as well as in conjunction as with other staff members.
  • Participates in staff meetings, group conferences and in-service training and community activities.
  • Complete and maintain mileage logs in a timely manner and in accordance with policies and procedures if necessary.
  • Participates in agency in-services.
  • Consistently complies with all Agency policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Transports food and supplies to cafeteria and stores in proper places
  • Washes and prepares ingredients for cooking.
  • Washes and dries dishes, service trays before serving food.
  • Collects dishes/service trays after use.
  • Washes, cleans, dries and secures all cafeteria cutlery and crockery.
  • Washes service counter, kitchen counter, ovens, refrigerators, cooking pans.
  • Prepares and cooks a variety of foods
  • Cleans and sanitizes kitchen and serving area.
  • Prepares serving area for breakfast and lunch items.
  • Serves breakfast and lunch items to students in a courteous and respectful manner.
  • Cleans and sanitizes kitchen equipment.
  • Uses all kitchen equipment with care and proper safety precautions.
  • Maintains a clean, orderly, well organized kitchen and serving area.
  • Consistently complies with all Agency policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Skills:

  • High level of written and oral communication skills
  • High level of interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of computer and ability to utilize word processing programs
  • First Aid training will be provided upon hire
  •  Possess good time management skills
  • Knowledge of food preparation
  • Courteous and tactful
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods and skill in cleaning kitchen equipment and facilities
  • Ability to use brooms, mops, buckets, etc;
  • Ability to operate a dishwasher and other related machines
  • Ability to understand order guides and place orders as needed
  • Ability to count and record
  • Ability to read
  • Ability to lift to 25 lbs at time
  • Hours Needed 7:00am – 12:00pm

Education

Preferred:Bachelor’s Degree plus two years’ experience with the developmentally disabled population and valid New York State driver’s license in good standing.

Minimum:High school graduate or equivalency diploma and valid New York State driver’s license in good standing.
