SUMMARY: Directs and coordinates financial and technological activities of overall organization. The Controller is responsible for aligning financial reserves with the mission of the organization and identifying concrete ways to increase financial reserves, cost-savings and maintain an annual balanced budget.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Serves as internal consultant to CEO on all financial matters including, but not limited to, financial reporting, financial stability and liquidity, technology and the overall operation of the organization. The Controller will make recommendations and suggest pro-active strategies to keep Beverly Farm financially sustainable.
Generate monthly, quarterly and annual reports summarizing and forecasting the organization’s business activity and financial position in areas of revenue, expenses, cash flow and liquidity; appraise the organization’s financial position and issue monthly reports to the executive director and finance committee.
Acts as Risk Manager of the organization and determines proper insurance coverage for protection against property losses and potential liabilities.
Arranges for external audits of the organization’s financial accounts and operations. Prepare necessary reports and execute the federal and state requirements as well as the lawful and ethical standards required to maintain the organization’s nonprofit 501© (3) status.
Analyzes, organizes, and oversees office operations and procedures such as bookkeeping, preparation of payrolls, cash receipts/deposits, flow of correspondence, filing, requisition of supplies, and other administrative services to maintain maximum internal controls.
Participates in all internal planning regarding any proposed Beverly Farm program expansion, reduction or change, to ensure alignment of program, outreach, staffing and training plans with financial projections.
Responsible for the supervision of the Finance department by either direct or indirect means.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the agency's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, delegating and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Uphold, safeguard and promote the organization’s mission and values as referenced in the organization’s mission and value statements.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Masters’s degree (M. A.) or equivalent in Accounting, Finance, Management or other appropriate area and/or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. CPA and supervisory experience are required.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, board members, families, stakeholders and the General Public.
MATHEMATICAL:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
REASONING:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to use initiative and independent judgment within established policies and procedural guidelines.
