The Utilities Operations Supervisor contributes to the success of the Bradenton Plant by effectively leading the Utilities Operations Team to ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the facilities utility systems. The Utilities Operations Team consists of approximately 18 operators and 4 leads providing 24/7 coverage. The facilities utilities systems include a 18,000 TR ammonia refrigeration system, 48MW/120klb/hr Cogeneration plant, 3MM gal/day process wastewater facility and 25k SCFM of instrument quality compressed air system.

Major Tasks, Accountabilities, and Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operation through leadership of the Utilities Operations Team to drive performance their required duties with quality and attention to detail to deliver business objectives
• Ensure proper resources to provide necessary coverage of operations personnel to properly monitor and operate utility systems
• Ensure the safety, reliability and efficiency of the utility systems through regular monitoring of the utility systems operation and operator work performance
• Work as part of a Line Centric Team to ensure equipment is maintained in a safe manner to provide reliable service and to ensure redundant and back up systems are kept at a ready state
• Work with engineering to improve system safety, reliability and efficiency through capital improvements
• Utilize visual factory concepts to maximize asset utilization and plant performance
• Participate in leadership role within site Process Safety Management team as it relates to ammonia refrigeration operations
• Ensure proper utilization of Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
• Provide the tools, training, coaching and troubleshooting support for front line employees and coordinate with external technical support when necessary to meet business needs
• Work with Manager, Utilities Maintenance Supervisor, plant operations and Front line team to prioritize and manage tasks
• Monitor progress to plan and performance of front line employees and drive decision making to front line and deliver results
• Prioritize work requests with production area supervision to balance business needs
• Regular and predictable attendance at the work site and a regular presence on the plant floor
• Ensure all safety rules, procedure, policies and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) are followed
• This role requires lifting up to 40 lbs. occasionally
• This role requires participation in a leadership capacity of the facility’s Emergency Response Team (Hazwoper)
• This role requires occasional work in poor weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, and rain
• This role requires occasional off-shift and weekend work
• This role may require some travel (less than 5%)

Qualifications:

• Engineering Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience required
• A minimum of 3 years experience in utility system operations and maintenance. Power Plant, Ammonia Refrigeration and Waste Water experience preferred.
• Experience with Process Safety Management preferred
• A minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience preferred
• Proficient in Microsoft Suite/Office applications
• Ability to give and receive constructive feedback
• Ability to lead a team-based approach to decision making
• Demonstrated ability to work in a results-oriented, challenging environment
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to get results through mentoring others
• Effective coaching, facilitation, presentation, and team-building skills
• Must be authorized to work in the United States
