Description

Summary: Cook will prepare and plate meals according to regulations. Able to serve the older clientele meals in a timely manner meeting their needs with providing good customer service skills. Must be able to supervise staff and help plan and organize special events.

Qualifications:

• Must be able to follow menus, recipes, written instructions, and have knowledge in volume cooking, times, temperatures, seasonings, using creativity and basic diet modifications and proper substitutions. Must have knowledge of various machines, equipment. Must be able to work with cleaning chemicals. Must manage and supervise staff; react professionally and calmly in emergency situations and to report problems in a timely fashion. Assist kitchen Supervisor in menu planning, ordering of foods. Help plan and organize special events. Must have customer service skills. No experience necessary but at least one year cooking experience with volume cooking and additional training in food preparation preferred. Must be over the age of 18 years of age.

Prerequisites: High school education or equivalent

Responsibilities:

• Laundry such as towels and table cloths may be needed.
• Clean work areas and follow cleaning check-off list and record.
• Prepare last minute food items.
• Proper storage of food after meal is completed.
• Supervise wait staff and check their task lists.
• Pitch in to help out staff that need extra assistance.
• Direct contact with residents after meal is served.
• Prepare foods according to menu, including requests.
• Plate food with consistency, decorative appearance and free of spills.
• Keep work area clean and sanitized at all times.
• Follow cleaning schedule provided by Dietary Supervisor.
• Maintain cleanliness of all equipment during and after shift.
• Clean and organize all refrigerators and freezers.
• Date all leftovers.
• Wash dishes
• Refill and stock supplies
• Set tables
• Take out trash
• Check menu for items to be set out to thaw.
• Supervise wait staff to make sure jobs are being done correctly.
• Make sure that juice is filled and if needed extra in refrigerator.
• Treat all staff with fairness and show no favoritism to any single employee.
• Maintain professional atmosphere and lead with confidence and knowledge
• Put away supplies order
• All other duties as assigned

Requirements

Physical Requirements:

Able to lift over 50 pounds, able to work at an expedient pace and be able to bend, squat, reach, push, pull and stand for prolonged periods of time.

Uniform:

Black pants, Bethany polo shirt and non-skid shoes. Kitchen apron (to remain at facility), hair must be restrained and off the shoulders.
