Day (United States of America)Manage the planning, design and construction of capital projects related to the renovation and repair of building envelopes, including roofs, facades, windows and doors, air and vapor barriers and waterproofing systems. Serve as an internal resource providing design review and implementation support related to structural design of facility renovation projects.

Job Description:

Essential Responsibilities:
1. Assume leadership role in the identification, definition and prioritization of deficiencies related to building envelopes, including roofs, masonry, glass and metal facades, windows and doors, air and vapor barriers and waterproofing systems.

2. Serve as internal design and constructability consultant in reviewing the structural design of facility renovation projects and provide input to the resolution of structural issues during construction. Ensure compliance with design standards related to floor loads and vibration. Participate in the design and staging of large equipment installations, such as air handling units.

3. Assess and recommend repairs to cast-in-place and post-tensioned concrete parking structures. Participate with department management in project program planning and budget development, including scope development and packaging of design and construction projects.

4. Assume responsibility for a construction project once program planning, budget assumptions and preliminary schematic design has been finalized. Serves as project lead in working with the architect, engineers, and construction manager to insure that the project is designed and constructed in accordance with the project scope, budget, and timeline.

5. orks with facilities management team to develop conceptual design from which decisions can be made as to the feasibility of projects both in terms budgets, schedules and constructability. Develop a comprehensive project charter and detailed construction timeline consistent with the scope, budget and target completion date.

6. Assume a leadership role in working with medical center staff to identify and mitigate construction impacts and operational issues, and insure compliance with interim life safety and infection control requirements.

7. Perform routine inspections of the job sites to monitor compliance with the scope and design specifications, medical center standards, building code regulations, infection control measures, environmental safety interventions, and construction timeline.

8. Manage construction consistent with budget and identifies both cost and timeline impact of construction change orders, user change requests and/or other unforeseen issues. Monitor budget assumptions to actual expense on an ongoing basis, identifies cost savings opportunities and explains variances.

9. Work with Maintenance Operations, develop comprehensive ongoing maintenance programs and capital plans for critical building systems, including roofs and concrete parking structures.

10. Review all project related documents from design to construction documents/shop drawings to insure that the deliverables will be the best possible product, consistent with medical center standards and in keeping with scope and budget targets.

Required Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering required.
2. 8-10 years related work experience required.
3. Demonstrated experience in the design and construction of restoration projects related to building envelopes, including roofs, facades, windows and doors.
4. Advanced skills with Microsoft applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access and other web-based applications. May produce complex documents, perform analysis and maintain databases.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Professional engineering license with ability to obtain Massachusetts registration and LEED certification preferred.

5. Oral Communications: Ability to comprehend and communicate complex verbal information in English to medical center staff, patients, families and external customers.

6. Knowledge: Ability to demonstrate in-depth knowledge of concepts, practices and policies with the ability to use them in complex varied situations.

7. Team Work: Ability to lead collaborative teams for larger projects or groups both internal and external to the Medical Center and across functional areas. Results have implications for the management and operations of multiple areas of the organization.

8. Customer Service: Ability to provide a high level of customer service and staff training to meet customer service standards and expectations for the assigned unit(s). Resolves service issues in the assigned unit(s) in a timely and respectful manner.

Social/Environmental Requirements:
1. Work requires close attention to task for work to be accurately completed. Intermittent breaks during the work day do not compromise the work.

2. Work is varied every day and the employee needs to be adaptable to respond to these changes and use independent judgment and manage priorities.

3. No substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions

4. Health Care Status: NHCW: No patient contact.- Health Care Worker Status may vary by department

Sensory Requirements:

Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally in carrying, lifting, pushing, pulling objects. Sitting most of the time, with walking and standing required only occasionally
