JCL Analyst1 – Processing support

The JCL Analyst will join the Processing support team as part of the Mainframe Technical Services Group. This JCL Analyst 1 position reports to the Manager of Processing Support as well as the JCL Team Lead and is responsible for the day-to-day implementation involving batch processing in a large scale, high availability mainframe environment.

The analyst must be thorough and complete tasks in a timely manner as execution or implementation failures in the Processing Support department could have significant financial impact to the organization and or its clients. 

The analyst must have experience with JCL and batch scheduling in addition to an understanding of batch processing. They must have a basic understanding of resolving batch scheduling issues as well as the ability to resolve abend errors in batch and fix those that are related to the JCL Batch. Experience using FTP, NDM, ChangeMan, JCLPlus, and ASG-ZEKE is helpful, but not necessary.

This role will require a motivated individual that is highly productive and detailed oriented to work with our development, product, and functional teams.

Role Responsibilities / What You’ll Do

Daily duties include, but are not limited to:

• Accurately update/create JCL based on specifications provided by other departments.
• Precisely correct JCL to comply with company standards.
• Thoroughly communicate with developers and other team members in order to gain an understanding of addition, changes or deletion of JCL code and how that may affect the job or batch.
• Successfully prioritize and manage multiple projects at one time
• Consistently run all JCL through system scans to ensure that it is error free and compliant with standards.
• Carefully examine JCL abends and scheduling issues to identify the errors. Contact the Correct teams to get them fixed.
• Effectively examine batch abends for JCL errors as well as scheduling issues and fix them appropriately so that batch can continue without missing any customer service level agreements.

Qualifications / Experience Required

• 4-5 years in large scale IT mainframe environment
• At least 2 years of manipulating JCL
• Understanding of and experience with a batch job scheduling software
• TSO/ISPF and SDSF experience. 
• Strong problem solving / troubleshooting and customer service skills. 
• Team player attitude along with strong communication skills.

Preferred Skills: 

• Some experience with JCL is preferred, but we are willing to train the right individual, regardless of experience, or lack thereof. This is a great opportunity to start a new career with a growing company.
• SYNCSORT, SQL, REXX knowledge helpful, but not required
• Experience with ConnectDirect and FTP helpful, but not required
• Specifically ASG-Zeke scheduling experience is helpful, but not required
• ChangeMan & JCLPlus experience helpful, but not required
