Job Title: RN Labor and Delivery Nurse

Job Summary:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated RN Labor and Delivery Nurse to join our healthcare team. As an essential member of our maternity unit, you will provide personalized care and support to expectant mothers and their newborns throughout the labor and delivery process. Your expertise, compassion, and attention to detail will ensure the well-being and safety of both mother and baby. This position requires excellent clinical skills, strong decision-making abilities, and the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Perform comprehensive assessments of expectant mothers before and during labor, including monitoring vital signs, fetal heart rate, and contraction patterns.
• Administer medications, pain management techniques, and assist with labor augmentation or induction when necessary.
• Provide emotional support, education, and guidance to expectant mothers and their families throughout the labor and delivery process.
• Monitor and document labor progression, maternal and fetal well-being, and promptly report any abnormalities or concerns to the healthcare team.
• Assist with the delivery process, including performing episiotomy, surgical assisting in cesarean sections, and supporting mothers during vaginal deliveries.
• Conduct newborn assessments, administering necessary medications, and assisting with newborn stabilization and post-birth care.
• Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a safe and positive birthing experience for both mother and baby.
• Educate mothers on breastfeeding techniques, postpartum care, infant care, and provide support during the postpartum period.
• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including assessments, interventions, and outcomes.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Valid RN license and registration in the state where work is performed.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Labor and Delivery Nurse.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
• Comprehensive knowledge of labor, delivery, and postpartum care principles, practices, and procedures.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to establish supportive relationships with patients and their families.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-stress environment, promptly making critical decisions.
• Knowledge of electronic medical records (EMR) systems and proficiency in documentation.
• Adept at working efficiently and effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
