Summary

The purpose of this position is to support and assist families in obtaining services and any other support necessary to address their need. Identify, contact, recruit and approve foster and adoptive tribal homes for children requiring placement. Arrange and oversee planning logistics and implementation of various trainings for community families and potential tribal homes. Develop and distribute resource materials, plan, organize and participate in outreach fairs and opportunities to facilitate communication within and outside of the tribal community. Maintain the safety of children in and out of home placements.

Job Responsibilities

• Works with families to develop individual plans based on family needs and strengths.
• Facilitate access to community resources.
• Act as an advocate for BCR families and help stabilize at-risk families.
• Maintain records of family’s assessments, plans, and outcomes.
• Transport clients to various activities. i.e., court, meetings, doctor’s appointments, etc.
• Identifying/Offering Tribal and Non-Tribal community-based resources.

Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences or Native American Studies or combination of 5 years of relevant experience.
• Work independently within a framework of standard policies and procedures.
• Analyze and interpret data.
• Maintain a high level of confidentiality.
• Conduct investigations under adverse living conditions.
• Ensure project compliance with federal, state, tribal and local codes, laws, and regulations.
• Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
• Maintain healthy and appropriate boundaries with BCR families.
• Identify “conflicts of interest” and how to best approach these situations.
• Be professional in highly stressful situations.
• Maintain continuous confidentiality as it relates to BCR family matters.
• Become familiar with BCR culture and beliefs.

Physical Demands

• Normal manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination and correct hearing and vision to normal range
• Lift and move objects weighing up to 25lbs.
• Office equipment, including computer, telephone, calculator, copier, and fax.

Special Requirements

• Possession of an appropriate valid California Driver’s License and clean driving record.
• Preference will be given to qualified Native American Indians under the Federal Indian Preference Act (43 CFR, 17.3(d)). Applicants claiming Indian preference must submit verification of Indian Heritage, Certified by the Tribe of affiliation, or other acceptable documentation.
• Applicant must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $48,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
