Job Description
Job Title: Processing/Label Specialist
Reports to: Production manager
Supervises: n/a
Oversees: Label creation and printing, production department support

Effective date: 3/9/2023
Core Duties:
The Production Associate, specialized in label creation and printing, has a skilled eye for detail and is knowledgeable in the regulatory requirements for packaging and labeling products in the adult use cannabis market. The main responsibilities of the label-specialized production associate are to create and print labels for products as needed by the production team, along with any support work for the processing team. Working with the processing team will include handling and processing plant material, running standard production machinery, and assisting with general packaging of products in the production facility as well as facilitating transfers between cannabis establishments. 
Principal Responsibilities:
Under direction from the Production Manager, the label-specialized production associate duties shall include, but not be limited to, the following:
  • Creating and printing labels as they are needed for batches of cannabis products
  • Collaboration with the compliance and quality assurance team to ensure labels are accurate and comply with all local, regional, and CCC regulatory standards
  • Maintain production areas and equipment in a clean and sanitized manner
  • Working with the compliance and quality assurance specialist to maintain up-to-date and current label template files
  • Experience with word processing, spreadsheets, and database management
  • Provide support in the preparation, review, and submission of labeling and the required documentation to government agencies as needed.
  • Supporting the production team by hand-trimming flower from plants, accurately tracking waste, and filling, packaging, and labeling products while ensuring high quality product standards.
  • Assist in facilitating transfers of product between cannabis establishments; this may include order fulfillment, performing deliveries, communicating with dispatch and wholesale customers. 
  • Understand and apply the use of METRC, the state seed to sale tracking program
  • Possess a willingness to work hard and learn every day

Essential Work Experience and Qualifications:
  • Must be able to work well in a group and independently, and demonstrate self-motivation and initiative.
  • Must be able to adapt quickly to changes in policy, procedure, and technique
  • Must have knowledge of, or a willingness to learn, cannabis laws, rules, and regulations
  • Ability to perform a monotonous task with great efficiency over 8 hour work periods without losing quality
  • High school education or GED graduate
  • 1-2 years experience working in a regulated environment preferred
  • 1-2 years experience working with inventory preferred
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
  • Ability use to and reference METRC; experience using METRC preferred
  • Strong understanding of algebra and multi-step math
  • Familiarity with Google Suite
  • Ability to communicate clearly and accurately
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must pass CORI background checks
Physical Requirements / Work Environment:
  • Long periods of prolonged standing and sitting while maintaining focus, in office or production settings. 
  • Must be able to lift, carry, and balance up to 50 pounds (100 pounds with assistance) AND must be able to do so with extreme care and caution when working with plants and product.
