SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST
POSITION: School Psychologist (3)
LOCATION: Assigned Schools
DIVISION: Instructional Programs and Support Services
RESPONSIBILITY: To Provide School Psychology Services
ACCOUNTABLE TO: Director of Special Education
QUALIFICATIONS:
Masters Degree in school psychology. Must be fully certified and licensed by the WV Department of Education as a school psychologist or possess the ability to obtain certification. Experienced as a practicing school psychologist and/or internship. Demonstrated knowledge of school, federal, and state laws related to position of school psychologist. Ability to interpret and communicate information obtained from the assessment process. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work successfully with students, families, the community and school personnel. Ability to administer and interpret various tests required of the position.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides Leadership and Support Services
a. Provides direct school psychology services
b. Maintains caseload and observes timelines
c. Consults with staff and community agencies
2. Establishes and Implements an Improvement Plan
a. Develops an annual written plan for school psychology
b. Develops and/or modifies next year’s program to better meet student needs
3. Establishes Good Public and Employee Relations
a. Promotes good public relations
b. Facilitates staff awareness and use of school psychology services
c. Participates in system-wide planning
4. Maintains Positive Professional Work Habits
a. Works cooperatively and professionally with the educational team
b. Demonstrates knowledge of duties
5. Maintains and Upgrades Professional Skills
a. Promotes awareness of relevant trends and developments in school psychology
6. Assist assigned schools and SAT committees with the RTI process in accordance with Special Education Law and Policies (2419)
7. Attend SAT meetings
8. Write, present, and interpret testing results
9. Other related duties as assigned by the director and deputy director
