Coder

Part-Time

Seeking a full time or part time The Health Information Management Coder analyzes patient charts and documentation for accuracy. Meets daily coding production of inpatient, outpatient, ancillary, emergency room, and clinic charts by assigning appropriate International Classification of Diseases (ICD) and CPT codes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma.
  • Baseline knowledge of ICD and CPT codes.
  • Certified Coding Specialist or Certified Physician Coder or Certified Hospital Coder preferred.
  • Minimum: 1 year experience as an inpatient or outpatient coder. Preferred experience: 2 years as an inpatient/outpatient coder in an acute care setting.
  • Knowledge of ICD and CPT coding manuals.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Computer knowledge of Excel and Word.
  • Ability to analyze and solve more complex problems that may require research and creative solutions and make sound decisions with limited supervision.
  • Excellent telephone and written communication skills as well as listening skills and ability to demonstrate tact and patience with others.
  • High attention to detail.
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) Certification or ability to complete.
