Bennett College is Hiring a Manager of Alumnae and Donor Engagement Near Greensboro, NC
GENERAL SUMMARY: In our 150th year, Bennett College is on an exciting journey of transformation, and we're in search of a Manager of Alumnae and Donor Engagement to lead and advance a reimagining of our alumnae and donor engagement efforts. Reporting to the Chief Global Communications & Experience Officer, the Manager of Alumnae and Donor Engagement is responsible for alumnae engagement strategy and programming as well as cultivating and stewarding a portfolio of donors.
Core duties include planning and executing programs and events to cultivate, steward, and engage alumnae and community members and to facilitate leadership with our alumnae and donor community.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: Alumnae Engagement
Serve as the chief liaison between alumnae and the College
Develop and execute a comprehensive multi-year strategic plan of creative and content-rich programs, services, and outreach designed to educate, enrich, and engage Bennett alumnae and donors. This includes alumnae programming, fundraising and donor stewardship events, alumnae chapter support, early engagement (students and young alumnae), affinity networks, and volunteer engagement
Launch and support the new Alumnae Advisory Council
Expand opportunities throughout the year for alumnae and current students to engage with each other and connect the generations of Bennett Belles. Explore the possibility of a mentorship program
Collaborate with the communications team on creative and targeted communications - website content, newsletters, social media, and print media - that resonate with different segments of the alumnae and donor populations, meeting them where they are
At least once per quarter, lead the planning and execution of an event, workshop, networking opportunity, or talk that facilitates alumnae and donor engagement and stewardship using a combination of virtual and in-person platforms. This includes the annual Alumnae Reunion Weekend
Donor Cultivation & Stewardship
Manage a portfolio of 50 prospective and current donors with the specific goal to solicit or renew their philanthropic support and qualify their capacity to participate in giving at a higher level
Engage with an average of two donors or prospective donors a week – virtually, by phone, or in-person – with an annual donor contact goal of 80 connection points a year. Record alumnae and donor outreach in Raiser’s Edge
Support Annual Giving efforts with our fundraising partner, Ruffalo Noel Levitz, with a special focus on alumnae engagement around Bennett’s Annual Day of Giving
Collaborate on campus events that include opportunities for fundraising and sponsorships
Lead efforts for meaningful donor stewardship at Bennett and opportunities for donors to meet current students
JOB'S PERFORMANCE MEASURES AND STANDARDS
Data-driven decision maker who maintains and awareness of best practices and establishes metrics for assessing the success of events, communication efforts, and cultivation work and who regularly uses that data to make informed improvements and changes
Key measures of success include alumnae and donor event attendance, engagement of new alumnae, annual alumnae giving rates and increased giving metrics, and involvement of alumnae as volunteers with recruitment, mentorship, events, and fundraising (Annual Day of Giving & Reunion Class Giving efforts)
Ability to set priorities and achieve timely progress toward goals is essential in this role. Applicants must possess initiative, be detailed-oriented, creative, efficient, and able to handle diverse tasks concurrently
Engagement in College-wide meetings, providing creative ideas and solutions
Recruit and equip volunteers to provide leadership to alumnae engagement activities and chapter events with minimal staff support
QUALIFICATIONS & WORK EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree required (preference for communications, marketing, or related field)
3 years of progressively responsible experience in a nonprofit organization, university setting, or event role preferred
2 years of experience in alumnae engagement, constituent engagement, or fundraising roles
2 years of event planning experience with progressive responsibilities including developing effective event marketing strategies and logistics, working with event vendors, negotiating contracts, working with high-level constituents
Experience developing and implementing strategic engagement plans, managing complex projects, overseeing budgets, and leading volunteers and teams
Experience with analyzing data to inform decision-making and measure impact
SKILLS AND APTITUDES DESIRED TO SUCCEED:
Professional demeanor paired with excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills required. Diplomacy, confidentiality, and tact are a must
Experience and knowledge of Raiser’s Edge NXT preferred
Competency with standard Microsoft programs, LinkedIn, and other social media platforms required
Exceptional organizational and project management skills
Capacity to bring creativity, entrepreneurial attitude, problem-solving skills, and knowledge of best practices to alumnae engagement, fundraising, and event management duties
Passion for customer service approach to alumnae and donor engagement
Team-oriented and collaborative professional who can also work independently
Ability to exercise sound judgment, remain calm and pivot smoothly under pressure
Willing to work extended hours on the weekend/evenings; and travel on a regional/national basis, as needed
