GENERAL SUMMARY:
Bennett College is seeking an energetic and passionate Assistant/Associate Professor of Mathematics to contribute to our dynamic academic community. We are searching for a forward-thinking educator who can inspire and engage our diverse student body while promoting a love for quantitative reasoning, data, and problem-solving. The full-time mathematics faculty member will teach general education mathematics courses and special topics courses suitable for students of all majors. Candidates who are able to contextualize math instruction in terms of real-world problem solving, including issues of equity and social justice, are especially encouraged to apply. A record of collaborative interdisciplinary research and/or teaching is also highly desirable.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Teach a maximum of twelve (12) credit hours per semester and maintain a minimum of five (5) office hours per week
Contribute to the re-visioning of the mathematics general education curriculum
Develop and teach undergraduate courses in mathematics and related fields as part of a general education curriculum centered on data literacy; prepare students to apply quantitative reasoning within a variety of majors and career paths
Develop and implement innovative teaching strategies to engage and inspire students
Use Canvas for course delivery and record-keeping; submit grades and attendance reports in a timely manner
Develop a research program and contribute to the published literature in the field , which may include scholarship of teaching and learning
Provide opportunities for undergraduate students to gain research experience
Actively pursue outside funding
Participate in programmatic and college-wide service, shared governance, and the general administrative work of the College
Participate in recruitment, professional development, workshops, and other programming or duties as assigned by the Dean of Faculty or VP of Academic Affairs
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Strong knowledge base in the mathematical and data sciences, including current research on undergraduate math education
Commitment to teaching, scholarship, and service
Commitment to making effective use of instructional technology and to maintaining up-to-date knowledge of teaching tools and methods
Excellent written and oral communication skills; can communicate effectively with colleagues, staff, students, administrators, and members of the community-at-large
Strong motivation to engage in interdisciplinary/multidisciplinary collaborations with students and colleagues.
Ability to work with students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
A terminal degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) in mathematics or closely related field is required
A minimum of two years of college-level teaching experience
Demonstrated ability to teach and mentor students from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds
A passion for promoting the advancement of women in STEM fields
