Job Title: Health Assistant
Reports to: Principal
Location: BFCS - Gilbert Campus
Term: 10 Months
Job Description
Benjamin Franklin Charter School is hiring a Health Assistant for the 2024-2025 school year. If you have previous healthcare experience and enjoy working with children in a school setting, this position may be the job for you!
Responsibilities:
Provides basic first aid to campus students and staff
Administers daily prescription and over-the-counter medications to students in accordance with school policy under the supervision of the school administrator and maintains accurate records of medication given
Administers rescue medications, including inhalers, Epi-pens, etc. as prescribed by medical professionals (with appropriate training)
Performs medical procedures such as diabetic care, seizure care, and other medical duties as prescribed by medical professionals (with appropriate training)
Notifies principal and Lead Nurse in any and all emergencies
Adheres to all policies, regulations and rules
Performs related duties as requested
Practice and emulate virtue, act honorably and with integrity in all situations

Have a growth mindset, be flexible and adaptable to change
Be intentionally positive, seek to solve problems and take direction
Promote civility, have empathy toward co-workers, students, parents

Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent
IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
Healthcare, EMT, Medical Assistant experience or training
CPR and First Aid certified
Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel
Must be able to pass a background check
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. Duties may include frequent walking, standing, stooping, and lifting up to approximately 25 pounds. Employees may be required to exert up to 50 pounds occasionally. This position will require the employee to have the ability to stand for extended periods of time.
