Benefis Health System is Hiring an Office Intake Specialist, Home Health (Full Time) Near Great Falls, MT

Job Summary:

The role of Office Intake Specialist requires individuals who have a high level of clerical and bookkeeping competence and a willingness to assume responsibility and accountability for health information management practices. Qualities and characteristics that address these role expectations include; an advanced understanding of claims filing regulations, instructions of CMS and private insurance billing practices, community resources, and attention to completeness, detail, and organizational skills

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Receive all intake referral phone calls and faxes.

Enter new referrals into referral filter. Triage referrals based on care needs. Notify Manager/Director if unable to schedule within 48 hours of referral or if unable to meet care needs.

Determine clinician availability for new admits/evals for the following business day. Enter availability on Outlook Calendar.

Schedule mult-disciplines for home health visits according to availability. This includes calling patient and/or family member for initial visit.

Contact Power of Attorney, if applicable, for approval and request copy of POA paperwork for electronic medical record.

Verify physician to follow in the community and sign home health treatment plan, if different from referring physician. Obtain Face to Face Documentation to verify eligibility to home health services.

Create e-chart in software system including but not limited to: Contacts, Patient insurance(s), Demographics,

Directions to home, OASIS information, Special instructions, Admission information, Disciplines, Schedule, and Medication Profile

Scan and file referral documents into electronic medical record

Print Patient Information Sheet and provide copy of -admit packet to admitting clinician.

Follow up on current patients who have been discharged from acute care for resumption of care orders. Schedule post hospital visits as indicated.

Communicates appropriately and clearly to manager, coworkers and physicians.

Consults other departments, as appropriate, to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient's needs.

Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.

Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity.

Interacts professionally with patients and their families and provides explanations and verbal reassurances as necessary.

Collaborate with Home Health Billing Specialist to ensure all appropriate and accurate documentation is completed prior to billing.

Complete and fax Benefis -Home Health Referral Discharge Disposition Sheet within 5 days or receipt.

Answers telephone and intercom in a polite manner and communicates information to the appropriate personnel or family.

Accepts other duties as assigned.

Demonstrates the ability to deal with pressure to meet deadlines, to be accurate, and to handle constantly changing situations.

Demonstrates the ability to deal with a variety of people, deal with stressful situations, and handle conflict.

Professional Requirements:

Adheres to dress code.

Completes annual educational requirements.

Maintains regulatory requirements.

Wears identification while on duty.

Maintains confidentiality at all times.

Attends department staff meetings as required within the department.

Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work in designated time.

Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.

Actively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.

Coordinates efforts in meeting regulatory compliance, federal, state and local regulations and standards

Communicates and complies with the Benefis Health System Mission, Vision and Values as well as the focus statement of the department.

Complies with Benefis Health System Organization Policies and Procedures.

Complies with Health and Safety Standards and Guidelines.

Education/Experience Requirements:

High School graduate or equivalent.

One year experience in home health or health care setting preferred.

Medical terminology course or previous medical terminology preferred.
