Benchmark Masonry is Hiring a Mason (FT) Near Lewistown, MT

Benchmark Masonry is seeking to hire a Mason.
SALARY:
  • Masons are paid using a scale based on aptitude and skill.
LOCATION:
Benchmark Masonry is headquartered in Lewistown, MT but most projects are outside of the Lewistown area and some are out of state. All job-related travel expenses are paid for by theemployer.

DAYS/HOURS:
  • Days worked are Monday-Friday if the schedule is 8-hour days. Days worked are Monday-Thursday if the schedule is 10-hour days.
  • When traveling, and often in the summer, workdays are typically ten hours so that employees can have Friday-Sundays off. Because we are working all over the state and some out of state, availability for travel is REQUIRED. All job-related travel expenses are paid for by the employer.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A Mason must be able to do a very large scope of masonry such as restoration, CMU, brick, cultured stone, natural stone, concrete, tile, etc.
  • Must have 5-7 years of equivalent work experience in masonry.
  • A Mason is required to produce work that work is completed safely, with quality, and within productivity specifications, as directed by the Foreman & Project Manager.
  • Must be reliable and hardworking, and available to travel.
  • Required to have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to and from work. Company vehicles are provided once at the job site. Company vehicles will be used while on the clock and for travel to out-of-town areas for work.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel in a repetitive motion; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, including working on hands and knees for extended periods of time.
  • Work in high, precarious places such as scaffolding and ladders.
  • Work in outdoor weather conditions including extreme heat or cold.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
  • Quality and attention to detail with demonstrated accuracy are a must. A large portion of our work is custom rather than large commercial.
  • Ability to access government sites, as we are also a contractor for the federal government.
DUTIES:
  • A Mason must be able to display a variety of masonry skills including:
  • Participate in daily meetings to ensure safety, quality, and productivity goals are set and met.
  • Ensure proper installation of wall ties, flashings, and laps of paper to job-specific standards.
  • Measure distance from reference points and mark guidelines to lay out work, using plumb bobs and levels.
  • Shape brick, block, or stone in preparation for the final set with the use of chisels and/or power saws.
  • Spread mortar ensuring joints of uniform thickness.
  • Spread mortar over brick, block, or stone and foundation with a trowel and set masonry in place by hand or with aid of a forklift or a crane.
  • Fasten or fuse brick or other building material to structure with wire clamps, anchors, or cement.
  • Remove excess mortar with trowels and hand tools, and finish mortar joints with jointing tools, for a sealed, uniform appearance.
  • Construct corners by building a corner lead of bricks, and filling in between the corners using a line from corner to corner to guide each course.
  • Lay and align bricks, blocks, or tiles to build or repair structures.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Foreman or Project Manager.
  • Must observe all safety procedures and report potentially unsafe conditions.
  • Must be able to follow instructions precisely, and work with others in an organized manner.
  • Must be able to ensure that crew members are performing to meet productivity goals and standards.
TOOLS:
  • Required to provide own masonry tools. A tool list will be provided upon hire.
  • Saws and Personal Protective Equipment will be supplied.

Must comply with drug testing policy.
