POSITION PURPOSE:
The Assistant Director of Maintenance and Construction is responsible for carrying out maintenance and construction for projects at our marinas. The Assistant Director of Maintenance and Construction’s primary responsibility is ensuring effective and efficient completion of projects and focusing on a smooth and efficient daily operation. The Assistant Director of Maintenance and Construction projects a professional company image through all types of interaction. As this is a fast-paced environment, must be able to work under pressure.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Advanced technical and mechanical skills related to harbor construction and maintenance.
2. Supervises construction, demolition, and repair projects.
3. Coordinates and oversees tool and supply inventories, material orders and deliveries for all harbors and ice rinks.
4. Demonstrates skill and knowledge of all maritime safety practices, to include boat or rig operational procedures.
5. Supervises Work Crew and seasonal employees when they are assigned to Work Crew. Follows all established company rules/policies/procedures while supervising staff.
6. Disseminates/prioritizes written work orders from all harbors.
7. Assigns work orders and organizes availability of labor.
8. Assists Operations Manager and Harbor Managers as requested.
9. Performs all tasks within scope of capability. Promptly notifies Director of Maintenance and Construction when unable to perform tasks beyond capability.
10. May be required to perform other job-related duties as assigned.
OPERATING RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work performed and composed of a variety of different tasks, calling for use of judgment; and compliance with policies and procedures. Must be both a team player and self-starter.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
1. 5 years minimum work experience in harbor construction/maintenance.
2. Bachelor’s degree in related field desired but not required
3. General construction experience.
4. Broad basic carpentry/electrical skills.
5. Must have a positive attitude
6. Must have highly effective communication skills and time management skills
7. Must be able to maintain a calm, positive attitude during periods of high activity
8. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
9. Excellent attention to detail.
10. Must be able to pass a background check
11. Basic water safety skills
12. Must have a positive attitude
13. Ability to work under pressure.
14. Must be able to work flexible hours, including but not limited to weekends and holidays based on the needs of the property
15. General accounting knowledge and basic understanding of financial statements
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds. The employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear;
2. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms;
3. The employee is frequently required to stand, climb ladders and walk on even and un-even surfaces;
4. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
5. Must be able to swim or wear a personal flotation device as position is located at a marina
