Job Description: The Life Skills Coordinator will oversee the design and implementation of programs and activities with the goal of establishing an interesting and challenging, structured schedule of activities for the youth which will improve self-esteem, restore emotional balance, and develop life skills. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Fulfills all core job responsibilities of a Youth Care Worker and assists with youth coverage as needed to ensure compliance with regulatory staff to youth ratios. Implements the life skills program in such a way as to build positive, caring relationships, as well as support for the youth. Develops a schedule including indoor and outdoor sports, leisure activities, arts and crafts, outings, and off-campus volunteer opportunities for the youth in cooperation with the residential and clinical staff. Communicates and coordinates with staff any changes to planned activities. Works directly with residential staff to develop their skills in leading organized cottage activities and provides them with a variety of activities to choose from during designated staff led activities. Provides the residential cottages with supplies for staff led activities as needed. Works with direct supervisor to help develop and maintain a budget. Investigates, proposes, and secures needed recreational equipment and arts and crafts materials and maintains all equipment in working order. Identifies and utilizes community resources for program development and implementation. Maintains certification in all mandatory training to include, but not be limited to, CPR/First Aid and SCM.
