Belle Creek provides its students a rich and immersive learning experience in kindergarten through eighth grade. In addition, K-3 students are taught using the Orton-Gillingham approach, which is direct, explicit, systematic, and sequential instruction incorporating multi-sensory learning. This instruction aligns with the Science of Reading.

What support does BCCS offer teachers and students?

We provide several levels of support for students and teachers by having grade-level instructional paraprofessionals, a Dean of Students for behavior support and coaching, and a Dean of Curriculum and Instruction for mentorship and support. For additional support, we have Gifted & Talented and Culturally & Linguistically Diverse Education Coordinators and a Literacy Specialist. Additionally, we have a Special Education team that includes special service providers for Speech and Language, Occupational and Physical Therapy, and a comprehensive mental health team.

Our building recently expanded, including a state-of-the-art performance stage, art room, life skills classroom, and a science lab. We also added an inviting staff lounge with a patio for our staff to enjoy. Salary Range:

24/25 salary ranges are under review at this time. The hiring salary for a teacher with a bachelor’s degree begins at $50,000/yr to $61,000/yr (11 years of experience). A teacher with a master’s degree begins at $52,000/yr to $67,000/yr (11 years of experience)

Qualifications:

  1. Master’s degree in counseling, social work, education, psychology, or a related field with coursework emphasis or practical experience in social emotional learning preferred.

  2. Bachelor’s degree with required certification and relevant experience accepted.

  3. Comprehensive knowledge, understanding of and commitment to social and emotional learning (SEL).

  4. A valid Colorado Department of Education Teaching License or a current out-of-state license that is transferable to the state of Colorado with on or more of the following endorsements; school counselor, school social worker, school psychologist, or special services. Individuals who have three years of successful teaching experience, a current teaching license, and are near completion of one of the approved licenses may be considered.

  5. The ability to handle many complex tasks simultaneously.

  6. The ability and interest to be part of a high-functioning team. (Having respected and trusted colleagues, preferably as teammates, makes the demands of teaching sustainable.)

  7. The ability and interest to learn continuously and to adapt to changing circumstances (student characteristics, curriculum, and so on).

  8. A belief in empowering all children as owners of their learning.

Nature of Work:

Responsible for social-emotional learning (SEL) and wellness of K-8 students. Will utilize SEL standards, to address social-emotional and self-regulation skills for individual students and groups of students. Will support the needs of culturally, economically and academically diverse student populations based on principles of multi-tiered system of support (MTSS), including prevention and intervention strategies, and data monitoring to inform progress toward student and school goals. The ability to collaboratively problem solve with colleagues, parents and agency partners is essential, as is having the flexibility to adjust and respond to unanticipated situations in an elementary/middle school setting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Facilitating strategies to support positive school climate, focused on social-emotional systems of support for individual students and groups of students. Support teachers and staff through collaboration, modeling and professional development in implementing social-emotional lessons in the classroom setting.

  • Participate in the MTSS team, student risk assessment teams, and crisis response planning groups.

  • Responsible for frequent facilitation and participation in meetings with students, families and school staff to problem solve and identify short and long term educational and intervention plans. Support the development and monitoring of individualized student learning support plans, including primary responsibility for Section 504 Plans. Provide transitional support of students who are new to the school, and/or students who are transitioning from elementary to middle school, as well as middle school to high school.

  • Assist building leaders in preventing and providing early intervention for matters of student behavior and attendance, focusing on building developmentally appropriate problem solving skills, emotional regulation, conflict resolution, and time management. Assist building leaders in developing and utilizing restorative practices when appropriate. Facilitate individual or group sessions related to students’ educational or life issues.

  • Assist families with accessing school, district and community support resources, including youth serving agencies, faith-based partners, and business partners.

  • Facilitate any situations involving Title IX as the Title IX Coordinator.

  • Assist staff with mandatory reporting training.

  • Other duties as assigned.
